Introduction.

Hello! This blog was made for all sorts of stuff for my Sonic au animation series. What’s the series about?

Deluding Moonlight is a series of animated Sonic music videos (at the time of writing consistent of one part) with a gothic Victorian aesthetic. The story touches on themes of mysticism, drama, tragedy, dark romance and psychological horror. The main focus is on Rouge and her passion for Knuckles, but you gotta wonder what’s hiding in the shadows.

The story is told through various songs by the Japanese rock band BUCK-TICK.

Kuchizuke, A Sinful Kiss, is the first and for now the only part of the series. IN HEAVEN... Three month anniversary special (not direct sequel).

Part two is already being worked on, but there’s still a lot that needs to be done.^^” Hope you’ll be interested in following this story!

Me and my friend Lar.Darkness made a collab with this meme reference!

Originally I was going to do it by myself, but I felt pretty sick and she came to help. Just by night I finished drawing Rouge, in time for her to finish Knuckles. I would've been late without her help. Still, it was such a fun idea and I love the result!

Hiya Ms Val! First off, what the heck, you keeping serving us such AMAZING Designs as well as the story and the ANIMATION?! *chef's kiss* As an upcoming animation student, I really want to ask you on how you use a software such as SFM to animate, like its so unbelievable that you animated the entirety of Kuchizuke using SFM. I have seen your process timelapse for some of the shots, but I wanna know how you got around to using it, like how you got comfortable with the software and how you were able to get familiar with the interface, because I tried my best to use it along with watching youtube tutorials but i dont know why it never really worked for me (im just dumb lol) were you self-taught or did you have a background of maybe studying animation? i reallllllly want to give sfm another shot and better myself at using it, and who better to ask than the expertise herself. (ps, sorry for the long rant, keep on feeding us with the story queen :>)

As for the question, I can't really say much that can be helpful. I never studied animation, just like with drawing, video editing and everything else I do — I learned it myself, because for me it was never comfortable studying with someone or at any educational institutions. I found stuff interesting — I try it out, that's kinda it haha.

I can't recall how it felt figuring out the interface of sfm, because it was 7 years ago, but I certainly had some problems (like at first I had no idea how to cut clips, so I copy pasted them instead). As time went by, I simply got around it. Sure, I also watched lots of tutorials. Still need to sometimes, because I can accidentally forget something after not touching sfm for months. xD

I've been able to improve my animations each time because I really like watching cartoons, understanding how things work and just keep all that in my head. My insane perfectionism and attention to detail also helps. xD And I never ever thought that I've reached my full potential, so I kept working hard after each finished project.

It's been a while since we've seen any renders. And since work on the models is already in full swing, might as well do a little teasing.\^o^/

As for the characters models' completion status: Finished – 3. Rigged but not textured – 1. Nor rigged or textured – 6. Not started – 5.
