For anyone out there who enjoyed Sasaki vs Desperado in the BOSJ but hasn't seen their previous singles match - DDT has it up on their youtube channel for free!

This match was the semi-main on Wrestle Peter Pan, DDT's biggest show of the year. They both took the gravity of this very seriously, and really delivered. I definitely recommend watching it, especially since you don't even need a Wrestle Universe subscription!

As a little backstory - Desperado requested this match by showing up as a surprise on DDT's special Tanabata show. Tanabata is a Japanese holiday celebrating one day out of the year when two star-crossed lovers can meet. Sasaki spent the lead-up to the match talking about this constantly and saying stuff like "Ours is a mutual love. Our love bashed down the wall (between promotions) and allowed us to meet in the ring on Tanabata" and so on.

The prize for winning the match was a year's supply of tequila.

Psst per my brief convo with @impossiblekittydelusion yesterday, if anyone is interested in seeing some of the history of the Brawling Birds, this is Alex and Jamie's last match against each other in Eve, from February 2025. They're great together, and I think this shows part of why they make a good tag team. Jamie did a lot of work with Eve Wrestling in the late 2010s when she was still a free agent, and really honed her craft there (hunt through the Eve youtube channel if you want to see some of her early work, I recommend it!) She still returns to Eve every now and again (twice last year, twice this year so far) and is always treated like a hometown hero by the Eve crowd (which she essentially is). Alex has been a regular feature at Eve until much more recently (not least cuz obvs, her mister Will Ospraey is a producer there, though Alex has very much earned her place on that roster under her own power), and this match against Jamie was likely a bit of a send off, as she announced she was signing to AEW only a couple of months later. It could easily be said that Jamie was coming back to Eve to symbolically welcome a fellow Eve alumni into AEW. Pity AEW can't be bothered to actually reference any of this!
