HEADCANON TIME FRIEND!
Princey never intends to reveal just how abused and brainwashed he was by the diamonds. It’s just that he’s been conditioned to think of how he’s treated as normal. If he was a perfect and great diamond like the others and his deceased mother he wouldn’t be punished so much you know?
Princey sees how sad steven is and is always trying to make his day just a tad bit brighter. Often times he’ll do things with him that steven enjoyed when he was a kid. Some he grew out of but some make him feel happy and nostalgic.
Hearing that he no longer has cookie cats and because princey himself has a limitless supply thanks to homeworld he’ll either have a gem deliver over a dozen to him or send them through his lion’s mane to steven’s lion’s mane as a deliver system. A sweet note is usually added to said package.
Steven teaches princey to be more independent and do things for himself. Being raised as a diamond he always had stuff done for him. He never had to clean up after himself or make many choices for himself for that manner. Almost everything in his life was planned out by the diamonds.
His big bro teaches him about human relationships. As well as human slang and gestures like finger guns and high fives. All that are alien to princey. Pun intended. First time he met his lars he called the prince lame and weird. Which he took as compliments.

“Hey big bro it’s alright don’t cry. Just hold this for a sec okay?” He asked handing him his half eaten cookie cat. “Pearl! I need you!” Pretty soon the pink pearl made her way over to the boy. “Could I have my ice cream? I wanna share with steven.”
The servant nodded before removing a small freezer from her gem. The child smiled. Opening it to reveal over a dozen ice cream treats. “Have as many as you want. They’re still discontinued on my earth but the diamonds stole the recipe and had them manufactured on homeworld. I can pretty much get as many as I want.”
I’m seeing @quartzlegacy and @armourose lovely edits of their stevens and I’m thinking this friday i gotta commission someone to edit a transparent steven like this to look like my princey. Might even do one for Thorn too. He needs more references.

He shrugged. “It’s always what my kind did I guess. Like to make me mom mated with my dad who was a human but for the rest of gem kind they were made by using a planet’s resources. We do that with a lot of planets and then they’re considered ours and we rule them. The diamonds said once I’m mature enough I can have my own colony. Right now I just have my pearl and my court.”

That’s when I met dad and the gems and decided to move in with them.” He wasn’t gonna mention the fact that prior to this meeting the diamonds in question made him believe his dad had died long ago. “Basically they learned all they could about humans from my zoo and the visits to earth. You know cause they had to get toys for me and stuff. They weren’t around as much as I wanted them to be though. A lot of the time I was babysat by homeworld gems. Like their pearls and my own pearl later on.”
“Wow. That’s… surprising, for them,” Steven said. He hadn’t expected to hear that the diamonds had put in the effort to learn about humans, let alone get toys and things for Prince Steven here. He didn’t even know that they would know what a toy was. Still, he was at least happy for that much.
“So, how’s life on Earth treating you? It must be really different from what you’re used to…” Steven stopped there and thought. The diamonds had had their pearls look after his counterpart. Not only that, but they’d given him his own pearl. Plus other Gems, apparently. He looked around, but he didn’t see any such Gems.
“Did you come here by yourself?”
“I’ll be honest it’s taking a lot to get used to. I thought I would fit in more with my own kind but if anything I stick out more on earth than I ever did on homeworld. Like there’s so much that’s new and that confuses me. Like the slang. First few times lars insulted me or made fun of me I thought they were compliments. The customs are pretty different. Like I’ve never had to pay for anything before so I just ended up taking stuff.” He shook his head yes. “I came to your universe alone atleast. Used this gem artifact I found.”

“What’s a birthday? Do you mean steven day?” Princey had definitely grown up in a different environment. Unlike steven here he didn’t grow up in a human society and instead was raised on homeworld. Steven day was what the diamonds decided to call the day celebrating his birth or atleast the day when they kidnapped him. “Woah you’re practically an adult! I’m thirteen!”
“ steven … day ? ”
his eyes are wide , mouth hanging slightly agape . one would think after so many years , steven would have seen everything by now . still , as soon as he thinks it might be it for him , that there might be no more surprises , the world still has a way of keeping him on his toes .
he watches the younger . his eyes startle steven in ways that he can’t quite explain . or , perhaps , in ways he simply refuses to acknowledge .
at the adult comment , steven breaks into an uncomfortable laugh , shrill and high pitched .
“ adult ? c’mon , i wouldn’t say adult . i mean — look at me ! ” he gestures down to himself , stretching a forced smile .
“ im still young . im still . . relevant ! ” after a couple seconds , steven just shakes his head .
“ nevermind . you’re thirteen ? that’s — great ! uhm . . do you have a pearl , garnet , and amethyst ? where . . ever you live ? ”
“Yeah steven day! It’s a whole day celebrating me coming into the world! Since I’m a diamond it’s a pretty big deal. The diamonds can’t be mad at me or lock me in the tower. We have a big ball! Every gem on homeworld gives me a present! It’s why I have so many toys. There’s lots of dancing and having fun! Pretty much my favorite day of the year.”
He shrugged. “You look pretty adult to me. You’re like a almost adult. Sorry I’ve only met babies and adults so far from my visits to my zoo.” He shook his head no. “I have a pearl! I named her flower cause she’s pretty like one. Other than her I have the many gems in my court and the diamonds. They told me dad died from old age when I was a baby.”
