One thing I hate I've been seeing is people reducing Simon to someone who is angry. Simon, the man who wanted to be Anything but angry like they wanted him to be, anything with rage and brutality like the Butcher, ANYTHING that'd make people afraid of him- people to not believe him because he's too 'ruthless' to be trusted. Simon the man who fought and died to be forgiven and you just see him as angry?

He wants to be kind. In another world, if given a chance even with his trauma and doubts, the one thing that'd overcome any fear and rage is his need to be seen with Mercy. First to apologize, the one who cuts the first branch to give, there's so much love he never Got to give. Let him give it.

SIMILAR TBH I actually never read the original but seriously need to! I just adored the idea and was a massive Yourpalross fan back in the day, it felt like such an obvious hc after I seen it. I usued to be such a stick in the mud abt reading when it got popular for some damn reason??? But yeah, im trying to write my own version, and considering I dont have much besides fanart to influence it [and a very vague memory, ngl those years are kinda vague to me], I think I got a great start to make something really cool.
