Bonfamille Bakery was quickly becoming one of Jenny’s favorite places. The doughnut art alone was enough to make her keep coming back to take pics for her Instagram. She hopped up to the counter, not taking offense as Diana turned to answer her phone. She listened to Diana’s side of the conversation, smiling faintly when she realized it was Marie she was talking to. The girl was a grade behind Jenny, but from what she’d seen of her, she liked her.
“Oh, that’s okay! You don’t have to give me a discount,” Jenny said when Diana turned back to her, not needing it for one. “Do you have any specials today?”
Diana smiled at the girl. It was always great to see regular customers in her opinion. They always seemed kinder and far more personal than others, and she was always pretty good at being able to help the. “Well, we do have our banana pudding cupcakes, 2 for 3 dollars, and our cranberry muffins are free with any purchase of coffee.” The women informed the other, her hand moving to open the case to pull out a new item.
“We also have our new Strawberry Delight. It’s my own creation.” Diana chirped as she set it on the counter. The pastery was medium sized, and golden brown with a lighter swirl in the dough. The top had a red jelly filling with white chocolate shavings on top. “If you’d like to try it first you can.”

Jack was still looking at some of the options in the bakery case when Diana had apologized and excused herself to take a call. Manners like these were ones Sally often had to remind him to work on at the store. “Kids?” he asked as she’d returned to the counter, unable to help but overhear some of the conversation. “I’m not even sure what I want” he admitted “I’m buying some for my employee. What would you suggest?”
Dianna laughed softly, nodding her head. “Yep. Three of them. Plus their all teenagers, so it makes it all the worse.” The woman said with a playful roll of her eyes. She looked around her display cases, her lips pursed. “Hmm, well it all just depends on their taste buds.” Diana noted, tapping her index finger to her chin. “I personally love the blueberry cheesecake turnover. It’s got the perfect amount of tart and sweet. Or perhaps the new strawberry delight? That one’s pretty sweet, but also best served warm.”
Diana stood at the counter of her shop, a smile on her lips as a customer came up to the counter. Just as she was about to greet them and start checking them out, her phone started ringing. Normally she wouldn’t answer it, however it was her daughter. It was the 3rd time in the last 30 minutes, and she figured she might as well get it so they would leave her alone. “I’m so sorry, I’ll be with you in just a moment.” She said with a pleading smile, hoping that they wouldn’t mind too much or they themselves had kids and understood. “Hello?” She answered quickly and quietly as she walked away a little. “No, I told you yesterday that your brother was making dinner tonight... I don’t care if you don’t like it , Marie, you’re going to eat it.. Yes, I did pick it, so either you’re going to eat it or you’ll just have to find something else in the fridge that isn’t set up for another meal.. Okay, I have to get back to work, I love you.” She sighed softly as she closed the phone and turned back to the person waiting there. “I am so sorry about that. Let me give you a 10% discount for having to wait for me.”
