uni has kicked my butt today but i would love to start writing so like this post for a very very short (like one sentence probably) starter ! if you like this and we haven’t done any plotting yet i will probably hit up your ims just fyi :~)
( JOSEFINE FRIDA PETTERSEN. CIS FEMALE. SHE/HER. TWENTY-ONE. ) Hey, is that DIANA LEMAIRE? I heard they’ve been in Salem for THREE YEARS and they’re working as a COLLEGE STUDENT. Last I spoke to ‘em they were pretty +RESILIENT & LOYAL, but I hear they can be -JUDGEMENTAL & RESERVED too. ( click for pinterest. )
hello ! i’m kira, twenty-one, from the cet, and one half of your admin team here at salem. this is my french trash child, diana. if you’d like to plot, hit that heart and i’ll slide into your im’s !
aesthetics.
crumpled up coffee shop receipts in the pockets of a grey coat, blue ink stains on your finger tips, empty museums, yellowed paperbacks with notes scribbled in the margins, a faint smell of laundry detergent, crescent-shaped marks in the palm of your hand, the taste of wrigley’s spearmint, chipped black nail polish, cat hair on your black turtleneck, 10 unanswered voicemails from your mother.
background.
diana émeline lemaire was born in new york city to a french mother and an american father. her mother was doing a work placement in a consulting firm, where she met diana’s father, who was working as an analyst. her mother’s parents forced their daughter to marry the father of her baby once they found out she was pregnant in order to avoid a scandal, and made them move back to their vineyard in saint-estèphe, gironde, when diana was only 6 months old.
diana’s father had hit the jackpot — living on a large estate, with a beautiful child and wife, and being set for life without ever having to work another day in his life.
diana’s mother, on the other hand, wasn’t so happy with the situation. her parents’ old-fashioned ideals angered her, and she was trapped in the very situation she had tried to avoid: on her parents’ vineyard in a small village, with a child she didn’t want and a husband she didn’t love.
her mother became resentful — of her parents, her husband, and diana. due to that she grew distant, mostly spending her time alone, wandering around the estate, and left diana with the nanny until she was old enough to be shipped off to boarding school.
diana’s first boarding school was in paris. she was pretty antisocial, usually staying in her room when she didn’t have classes, her nose buried in a book.
on the rare occasions she did socialize with her classmates, she usually coaxed older classmates into providing her with booze and, although rarely, other substances.
transferred to a boarding school in new york city when she was fifteen — her family told people it was because of the superior education standard, but really, she was kicked out for destroying her dorm room after a bad trip.
once she was settled into her new school, her parents forced her to go to a shrink, who diagnosed her with generalized anxiety disorder and persistent depressive disorder, gave her a prescription, and sent her on her way.
her already sparse social life became practically non-existent in new york. she focused mostly on her school work, and when she did leave her room, it was to roam the streets of new york city on her own.
chose to move to salem after she graduated to pursue a creative writing degree. she likes the aura of the town, though the recent murder has left her feeling even more anxious than usual.
extra tidbits.
chose her major more as a “fuck you” to her parents, though she does genuinely enjoy writing. doesn’t really write anything cohesive, though — mostly poetry, snippets of prose. thinks she could be the next sylvia plath
is aware of the witchcraft in salem. does her best to stay away from it, even though it fascinates her, because she’s afraid it’ll get her in trouble
worked really hard to get rid of her french accent, though it does sometimes come out when she’s angry and/or drunk
adores cats. can’t stop herself from petting every stray cat that comes her way, and usually has a small bag of cat food in her bag to feed them
developed a habit of lying to strangers, coming up with a fake identity, just for fun
has been off her meds since the middle of her sophomore year, though her parents don’t know that. claims they hinder her ~creative flow~ while writing
still keeps to herself more often than not, but is loyal to a fault once you crack her shell. great friend, will make sure you get home safe when you’ve gotten a little too fucked up, but will judge you the entire way (even though she did the exact same thing last week)
spends most of her time in the coffee shop or the library
likes to think she got over her ‘angsty rich kid woe is me’-attitude when she was a teen but it does crop up sometimes :/
doesn’t sleep a whole lot. is it the excessive coffee intake? is it the untreated anxiety? who knows!
ignores her mom 100% of the time and her dad 75% of the time. can’t believe they haven’t gotten a divorce yet, considering they don’t even sleep in the same bed, but she hasn’t been home in 2 years, so she doesn’t really care
isn’t a very physically affectionate person. even hugs can be A Lot™ for her unless she really really likes you
