Today I decided I really need to get fit, lose some weight, eat healthily, drink less alcohol, all that stuff. I’ve done it before, and I’ve found myself drifting back into old (bad) habits. I’m creating this blog partly to remind myself that I can do it, partly to serve as motivation, and maybe even to give help and/or inspiration to other people in the same situation.
A couple of years a go, last time I went on a “serious” health kick, I joined a local Crossfit gym. I’ve seen all the stuff online taking the piss out of crossfit - how can you tell if someone does crossfit? don’t worry, they’ll tell you! - but to be honest, I’d never felt fitter and healthier in my life. the couple who own the gym are friendly, welcoming, and passionate about what they do, and genuinely want to see their gym members improve. I stopped training there due to work commitments - my working hours weren’t compatible with the gym, sadly. I tried a few other local gyms, but they were all lacking a certain something that kept me motivated. Now I find myself in different circumstances, and I’m able to start attending again, So I will be doing the majority of my fitness training at Crossfit Oswestry with Rob & Clare Walker.
However, not only am I unfit, I’m overweight, and by a fair amount. Now, I don’t hold with BMI or anything like that, I judge my overweight-ness by how much of me wobbles when I move, how big my waistline is, and how much of a tantrum I throw when I cant get into my clothes... So I’ll be dieting, and hopefully sharing nutrition advice here too. I am a total junkfood addict, and I hate that about me, so my aim from today will be no sweets, no junk food, no processed meats, a minimum amount of bread/pasta... you get the Idea. Healthy stuff. oh, and strictly no dairy - I’ve come to the conclusion that it really doesn’t agree with me. I’m not lactose intolerant, maybe lactose sensitive? is that a thing?
I’m going to weigh myself tomorrow. not looking forwards to that. here we go...
