Ramadaan Is a Great Month and It Is from the Months of Forgiveness and Mercy
Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah) said:
Indeed, the month of Ramadaan is a great month [and] from the months of forgiveness, mercy and being freed from the fire. [And that] it is obligatory upon the Muslim to receive Ramadan with repentance and seeking forgiveness, and to have happiness and joy upon this great blessing. The Muslim should take advantage of his time by performing acts of obedience and with the remembrance of Allaah (Aubhanahu wa ta'ala), recitation of the Qur’an, Salaatul Taraweeh, Tahajjud [night prayer], ‘Itikaaf, and [by performing] many [of] the supererogatory acts of worship.
The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa salam) said:
“Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven…”

Shaykh al-Shanqeeti (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
”How many people criticize something sound when their problem is their own misunderstanding.”
[Adwa’ al-Bayaan (3/389)]
Their Hearts Will Be Derelict of the Qur’aan
It is reported that Aboo Aaliyah said:
“There will come upon the people a time when their hearts will be derelict of the Qur’aan; they will find neither sweetness nor pleasure by it. If they fall short of doing what they have been commanded to do, they will say: ‘Allaah is most forgiving, merciful (He will forgive us)’; and if they do what they have been forbidden from doing, they will say: ‘We will be forgiven, we have not committed any shirk with Allaah.’ Their affairs will all be based on [false] hope, having no truth and sincerity with it. They will wear the skins of lambs over hearts of wolves. The best of them in his religion will be someone who compromises.”
— Imaam Ahmad, Al-Zuhd article 1741
Undoubtedly, one should never please people by displeasing Allaah. Do not praise anyone for that which Allaah had bestowed on you, and never blame anyone for that which Allaah did not grant you. The blessings of Allaah will not be gained according to someone’s desires nor will they be removed because of someone’s hatred. Allaah, in His Justice and Patience, makes the soul happy by being content, and makes sadness and grief when one doubts and is discontent.
From Al-Fawaid by Ibn Al-Qayyim (rahimahullaah)
In the Company of the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs and the Righteous
‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) reported that a man came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) and said:
“O Messenger of Allaah! Indeed, I love you more than I love myself, and I love you more than I love my family, and I love you more than I love my children. When I am at home and I think of you, I am unable to contain myself until I can come to you and look at you. When I think about my death and your death, I know that when you enter Paradise, you will be raised to where the Prophets are. But if I enter Paradise, I am afraid: will I be able to see you?”
So the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) did not answer him at all until Jibreel revealed to him:
“And whoever obeys Allaah and the Messenger, then they will be in the company of those on whom Allaah has bestowed His Grace – of the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are!”
[an-Nisaa’: 69]

You Will Be Given a Two-Winged Horse
Aboo Ayyoob al-Ansaree narrated:
“A bedouin came to the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and said:
‘O Messenger of Allaah! Verily, I love horses. Are there horses in Paradise?’
The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) answered:
‘If you enter Paradise, you will be given a two-winged horse made of rubies that will carry you and take you wherever you want to go.’”
[‘Silsilat al-Ahadeeth as-Saheehah’ (# 3001)]
Whoever is mindful of Allaah when he is young and strong, Allaah will take care of him when he is old and has become weak, and will bless him with good hearing, eyesight, strength and reasoning. One of the scholars who lived beyond the age of a hundred years and enjoyed good strength and reasoning, jumped up in a lively manner one day and was asked about that. He said: “I kept these physical faculties from sin when I was young and Allaah has preserved them for me now that I am old.”
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbalee in Jami’ al-‘Uloom wa’l-Hukam, 1/186
