Taking a Break
things have been hectic, and i havent had the energy for this blog for the past few days, which is why ive been inactive
i still love jean to bits, but i think i need a break for a week or so, especially while i begin sorting things out

Hands Jean a noodle. One single, uncooked noodle.

He’s doing an awful job at his late guard duty. A titan could break through the ceiling right now and Armin wouldn’t notice. The tick tick ticking of the clock stationed across the room previously kept his attention, among other things he could observe in the dark. But it’s background noise to his ears now. All he can hear is the repeating, deafening sound of gunfire.
Of course he’s thinking about it. Thinking of what could have been done differently. What if Jean hadn’t hesitated? What if Armin missed completely? What if he just grazed the enemy, enough to knock them from the cart but not take their life? There’s no point to these what-ifs; what happened has already happened. He can’t change a thing. The scene plays on again and again in his head, like a damn broken record. Small fingers clutch the cloak around him tightly, causing his knuckles to turn white. But Armin doesn’t notice.
{♘};; "Armin?" Not certain if the other hears him. Perhaps he isn't the best one to be approaching the blonde, and yet-- well, perhaps it's better than leaving him alone. Besides, it's not as if Jean can sleep either. Behind his eyelids, he sees that woman. He sees the hesitation, sees what it cost her. What it almost cost him. He can't hesitate the next time (and there will be a next time), but he still doesn't know that he won't.
And his hesitance-- it had cost Armin something else entirely. He steps closer, gently placing a hand on the shorter's shoulder. "--Hey. Armin. Mind if I join you?" Words are spoken quietly, with a bit more care than is usual. He can't imagine what the other must be going through.

{♘};; It's been a week after the transplant, and Jean is getting fucking antsy. A few people have stopped by and, hell, he had a good time whenever they were around (despite the heavy medication fucking him over), but whenever things died down, it became excruciating. He'd never had the attention span for books, and channel surfing often got him nowhere. He'd text but, well, what was there to text about? Other than what he'd been missing. And there was that one fucking nurse who kept-- but what fucking ever.
The worst part was the thinking though. He could have died. Something could have went wrong, and even thought he knew it didn't, it still lingered in his head. And, well, someone had to die so that he could keep living, and if that wasn't sobering, nothing was. Didn't even know who it was that kicked the bucket.
He kept seeing flashes of someone, too, ever since the surgery. Out of the corner of his eye, but whoever they were would be gone. He blamed it on whatever drugs that they'd been giving him-- even if the flashes had begun to happen more frequently.
It had to be the drugs. Probably.
--And there it is again. He groans softly and runs his hand down his face. "--Fuckin' hell." This was beginning to get tiring. Hopefully they'd be able to take him off of the heavier shit. And soon. It would only be a couple of days until he'd be able to get out of here, after all. Aside from check-ups over the next few months.
