My Immigrant Experience
4)A pregnant dolphin almost made me cry.....in a good way. She came right to me, stopped and stared at me with that smiling dolphin face that make humans like me buckle at the knees. Really it was the highlight of my day and a moment of pure joy.

3) Gina and I have been great influences on eachother. She made me join her gym and we go every single day. The classes are AWESOME! This instructors have no mercy on my non spanish speaking ass! We've taken pilates reformer, pilates mat, kickboxing and other classes this week and I love it!

2) I love it here. It's only been a week and I want to buy a house and get comfortable. The crime is NOT bad, the people are friendly and it is BEAUTIFUL.

I arrived to Cancun, MX on January 23, 2012 with my Husband of 3 years 2 suitcases and a desire to try something new and kind of risky for once in my life. My hubby left back to Houston to hold down the fort on Jan. 26th and since then it's been me, alone again, well sorta. My roomates consist of friends Gina and Hernan who are amazingly sweet funny and helpful to me, their two beautiful daughters Fernanda and Christy and Kimi, their 4 year old pug.
Here's a little of what I've experienced so far:
1. I am SOOO quiet here. I never thought of myself as the life of a party or even that loud of a person, I mean sure I have my moments but here, here I feel like a whole new person with all this silence on my hands. I want to engage with people, to share and make comments on the things being said around me but my mind feels like a nintendo in a PS3's world. THere are two problems right now 1) I am almost fluent in my comprehension of Spanish. THis is something I knew before coming here but it also leads to problem #2) I speak with the cadence and vocabulary of a 4 year old. THis is somehting that I was aware of before I came but I was not so much aware of the severity of my problem. So this equates to me by knowing whats being said around me and wanting to speak on a different level than just "si" or "no" or "no me digas" or "verdad?". Yes, I know more words than this but really it seems like it take centuries for me to recall any of them the moment it is my turn to talk. I guess Im not gonna be that fast talking spanish speaker in just 1 week like I pictured....wish me luck folks cause Im gonna need it.
