Rough weekend. I looked in the mirror once after eating and, well, I moved back a couple steps with recovery. This thing has tried to kill me for over five years now it is time for it to gO AWAY. I spent a long ass time crying. The more I fight it, the stronger it gets.

Consider this...

Nurse Kellye is Hawaiian, she’s in her late 20s to early 30s in 1950. That means she was probably between 8-13 on December 7, 1941. Nurse Kellye probably became a nurse and volunteered to go to Korea because she remembers the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

I’d place Kellye as being a little younger than that, but I expect she still remembers Pearl Harbour, and a lot of the tensions afterwards.

Kellye and her family also may have experienced hostility during WW2, being Asian-American. There is some inconsistency in the show regarding her heritage - she is described in one episode as half Chinese, but is given the surnames ‘Yamoto’ and ‘Nakahara’ (the actress’ own surname) in others, both of which are of Japanese origin - but either way, Kellye’s background represents someone caught in the middle between two warring nations, either the previous US/Japanese hostilities in WW2 during her childhood, or the Chinese during the KPA.

I would definitely agree that Kellye goes to Korea to bring some humanitarian aid to the world in a time of crisis. She’s probably lived through some tough times.

When Charles was at high school, he went to Choate (which is now known as Choate Rosemary Hall). Assuming that Charles is a bit older than Hawkeye, I’d say he was born in 1917, which would make him 33 in 1950. If he was born in 1917, then he would have graduated from Choate in 1935. Do you know what that means?

Charles Emerson Winchester III went to school with John F. Kennedy (who was a complete trouble maker and blew up a toilet with fireworks). Could you imagine how annoyed he would’ve been when JFK became president?
