Our landscape is constantly changing, and it's often very useful to know in detail: what the changes are and how do they impact on our surroundings.

As part of a visual impact assessment or just for local interest or for fun, recreating existing photographs can be very rewarding.

Unfortunately this procedure is seldom straight-forward; the exact location needs to be known including the height of the tripod. Then the correct lens has to be chosen to achieve the exact field of view used in the original. If an exact match of lens/camera combination cannot be found then a lens distortion issues will rule out an exact match.

DICKIE innovation uses advanced mapping techniques to calculate the exact spot where the original was taken, before we even reach the site. Using image overlays on the camera screen the positioning can then be fine-tuned on site.

To take the photograph a combination of HDR (high dynamic range), focus stacking and super resolution can be used to ensure as much information of the scene is captured as possible.

After all the photographs have been taken detailed post-processing ensures that the images match completely in composition.

And finally to help visualise the changes between the two photos, animations and other visual techniques can be used to give an interesting and entertaining display.
