Daiki can tease all he wants, but Tsukasa loves putting on a show. He should know by now that tall man would be nothing less than enthusiastic to being invited to events. “Isn’t the belle of the ball supposed to be fashionably late? Wheres the fun in coming early.” Turning heads is his specialty, outside of being aggravatingly superior at everything.
“I was born ready.” Which was mostly a lie, he’d spent what felt like an age trying to get this bow tie to sit right, and it still looked wonky. Maybe he was used to formal wear but that was under a different kind of formal. Either way, a full leather outfit was still easier to get into that a three piece suit. He fiddled one last time with the tie before giving up, sighing and nodding towards the doors.
“Suppose we should grace the people with our presence then. You fine with that Yuusuke?” He eyed the other, who had just finished once again shifting uncomfortably in his clothes. He’d been doing so since they left, obviously not used to anything outside over-sized shirts and letter-man jackets. Still if he ever wanted to ask for help Tsukasa would gratefully oblige.

When Yuusuke’d originally had the thought of inviting the two other men to the event he’d heard about, the ball, he hadn’t really thought it through very well- really, he never did. He’d just thought it would be a fun, non-stressful way for the three of them to spend time together… which was something he’d missed, honestly, since coming to this city. Without all having the same place to return to each night, they saw each other even less than normal, which was really quite impressive. Not thinking about it too much had worked great for him until he’d stopped to actually think about the dress code.
How many years had it been since he’d worn less than five layers at any given time, not counting when someone else dressed him or it was the actual end of the world?
He’d done alright, probably- a quick thrift store visit had netted him a nice enough blazer set with rose patterning subtle enough that it didn’t exactly scream “someone’s grandpa used to wear this” so much as it delicately whispered it. But it was still much less that he was used to, and only his excitement at the ball itself was keeping him from running to the nearest clothing shop to buy a thick jacket to throw over the relatively form-fitting outfit. He was, in fact, probably fussing with his sleeve hems and collar more than even Tsukasa was- a fact which he was eternally grateful Daiki had neglected to point out the entire walk here.
“Ah- yeah, let’s go in, it’s cold out here,” he said after a moment, dragging his attention away from his sleeves again and settling his eyes, and smile, firmly on Daiki and Tsukasa. He didn’t wait for a reply before heading for the door, only checking over his shoulder briefly to make sure the two taller men were following suit.

Daiki rolled his eyes skyward at Tsukasa’s comments. “Of course, the belle of the ball. I’m sure you’ll be stealing hearts left and right,” he teased. He paused, looking at Tsukasa closely as Yuusuke headed past them, and he lingered a moment to walk over and abruptly reach up to untie Tsukasa’s bowtie.
“It won’t sit straight if you tie it like that- who taught you how to dress formally?” He grinned at the taller rider teasingly as he deftly redid the bowtie for him, his face close to Tsukasa’s. He stepped away promptly, though, once the tie was nice and straight. “There.”
He turned and sped up a little, then, catching up to Yuusuke. His hand found Yuusuke’s upper arm as he strolled through the doors with him, and he turned his gaze on the shorter man to look him over. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you wearing any less than three layers,” he said, grin bright. “You clean up well though, Yuusuke.” He tossed a glance over his shoulder for Tsukasa, to see if he straggled, before they were through the doors and he was looking around.
He’d been to dances before. Small community dances in his town, formal inter-departmental parties that were more about work than play, big and decadent balls in worlds far, far away. This one, he decided, was in the last category. Perhaps not as decadent and lavish as some places he’d snuck into, but just the right amount, maybe. His stomach fluttered suddenly, as he considered the situation. It was ridiculously adolescent, he thought, getting butterflies in his stomach at the prospect of going to a dance with Tsukasa and Yuusuke.
Taking a deep breath, Daiki turned to look at the both of them, banishing any nervousness. “So, looks like a nice party they’ve got going on here.”
