jimmy.
where โ st mungoโs. who โ @olivcs
Itโs the day after.
Jimmy has not slept. Itโs not like itโs the first time heโs gone a night without sleeping, sleep always having been a hard thing to come to, but itโs different this time. And itโs not like this is the first timeย Jimmy has been in a sticky situation and has gotten out of it, as his work is nothing but risk. Itโs different, everything is fucking different when the enemy is not an institution, faceless, or a rich dude whoโs easy to vilify but who you never really see.
Heโs reeling from it. And on top of that, there is the worry about Olive Longbottom. Jimmy has never considered himself a hero, or even a good person, and yet. Heโs done something thatโs undoubtedly good, and he canโt let it go.ย Once the clock in the bottom of his laptop screen had hit 11:00, heโd pulled on his hoodie and left, a rare sense of duty motivating him. Heโs standing in front of the door belonging to her ward, now, awkwardly fiddling with one of the strings of his hoodie. Hospitals make him feel stressed; they remind him of emergency rooms and sitting at Mundungusโ bed, head in hands, defeated and tired. Of flashing lights. Still, he opens the door, approaches the otherโs bed.ย โHey.โ Heโs silent a moment.ย โHope itโs okay I stepped by, I er โโ I wanted to see if you were okay.โ
(...)
the last twenty-four hours seemed to have passed olive by in a blur. she had been able to reconnect with her family the night she was admitted to st. mungoโs โ she had been to visit her father and her sisters plenty of times, more worried about them than herself. she knew that she would heal. she knew that she would be okay. her father, on the other hand, was a different story. and her sisters... merlin, her sisters. olive had been relieved to see that all three of them had made it out alive and (relatively) unscathed. though, try as hard as she might, she was unable to stop herself from worrying about the state that her father was in. the state that the death eaters had left him in. her mother had tried to reassure her and her other sisters, telling them everything was going to be alright.ย she wished she could believe her, but she knew better than to cloud her judgement with such wishful thinking. things would only get worse from here on out.
the sound of the door opening jerked olive away from her thoughts and back to reality. pulling the hospitalโs blanket tighter against herself, she watched as jimmy walked into her room, a meek smile on her face. ย โ thatโs okay. โ her turn to be reassuring. โ iโm doing okay. better than the last time that you saw me, thatโs for sure... โ she trailed off with a shrug. she was far from okay, but he didnโt need to know that. โ how about you? are you alright?ย โ
And at night, tears replaced anger, making her feel lonelier than she really was.

Camille Rankine,ย Emergency Management
dove.
Defacing their portraits was the least of the things Dove wanted to do to Rodolphus and Bellatrix Lestrange. She wanted to see them pay for what they had done. Not by going to jail, as that had proven futile not once but twice, but by dying. Painfully, preferably. Part of her even thought that death was too merciful an end for them, and wished the see them lying in St Mungoโs, their minds completely ruined by pain. She wanted them to beg for death, and get a fate worse than it.
But even Dove had her limits. She doubted she would be able to act as viciously and cruelly as the Lestranges had, decades ago, but the thought still entered her mind every now and then. She was thinking of it now, as she used red paint to replace Rodolphusโ name with the term fascist murderer, before moving on to deface his face with childish doodles. A turd on top of his head, between the aforementioned devil horns. An ugly mustache ( inspired by Diomedes Averyโs ). Eyes that crossed outward. Sheโd drawn better things, but Rodolphus did not deserve her artistry.ย
She took a step back to assess her and Oliveโs work.ย โI think dear Bella would absolutely lose her mind at the image of that,โ she said. Dove felt a certain sense of satisfaction, but still longed for more than just this. This felt like childโs play. A temporary solution โWell, even more than she already has.โ Her eyes danced over the rest of the names. She wondered what some of these people would say, if they knew that two muggleborns bearing the name Longbottom stood among them. It brought her great glee.ย โHow about the new and improved Rodolphus, then?โ
โ well, iโm glad to hear that. โ truly, she was โ dove was still her older sister, after all. no matter how many years passed and no matter how much distance there was between them (physically or emotionally), olive would always look up to her eldest sister. these days, olive often found herself thinking back to her childhood, back to a time where she hardly even knew the meaning of the word โwarโ. she wished that they could be those kids again, longing to be blissfully unaware of all of the horrors and atrocities happening around her, but there was no use in daydreaming anymore. if she wanted the order to win the war, to put an end to this once and for all, she realized that she would have to spend her time worrying about more important things than the death of her innocence.ย
her eyes scanned over the tapestry once again, eventually landing on rodolphus lestrangeโs (new and improved) face. she couldnโt help but laugh at the image, her sister had done a fantastic job. โ i think youโve done him a service, to be honest with you, dove. he looks better than ever. โ she smiled as she shot a glance in her sisterโs direction, glad that she had decided to tag along for once.ย โ i just wish we could do more... โ she trailed off, not bothering to explain herself, knowing that dove would understand what she was trying to say.ย

NINA CRIED POWER
โ itโs not the waking, itโs the rising. โ โ it is the grounding of a foot uncompromising. โ โ itโs not forgoing of the lie, itโs not the opening of eyes. โ โ itโs not the shade; we should be past it. itโs the light, and itโs the obstacle that casts it. โ โ itโs the heat that drives the light. โ โ itโs the heaven of a human spirit ringing. โ โ and i could cry power. โย ย โ itโs not the wall, but whatโs behind it. โ โ power has been cried by those stronger than me, straight into the face that tells you to rattle your chains if you love being free. โ
ALMOST (SWEET MUSIC)
โ i came in from the outside, burned out from a joyride. โ โ the same kind of music haunts her bedroom. โ โ iโm almost me again. โ โ iโm almost me again. sheโs almost you. โ โ i wouldnโt know where to start. โ โ be still my foolish heart. โ โ donโt ruin this on me. โ โ letโs get lost and let the good times roll. โ โ letโs smoke rings from this paper doll. โ โ i got some color back. โ โ i laugh like me again, she laughs like you. โ โ the very thought of you, and i am blue. โ โ i get along without you very well some other nights. โ
MOVEMENT
โ i still watch you when youโre grooving. โ โย youโre moving without moving. โ โ when you move, iโm moved. โ โ you are a call to motion. โ โ when you move, iโm put to mind of all that i wanna be. โ โ i could never define all that you are to me. โ โ move me, baby. โ โ you do it naturally. โ โ honey, youโre atlas in his sleeping. โ โ i recall something thatโs gone from me. โ โ when you move, iโm put in awe of something so flawed and free. โ
NO PLAN
โ what a waste to say the heart could feel apart, or feel complete. โ โ why would you make out of words a cage for your own bird, when it sings so sweet the screaming, heaving fuckery of the world? โ โ why would you offer a name to the same old tired pain? โ โ all things come from nothing. โ โ my heart is thrilled by the still of your hand. โ โ i know now that you understand. โ โ thereโs no plan. โ โ thereโs no race to be run. โ โ the harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun. โ โ thereโs no kingdom to come. โ โ iโll be your man if you got love to get done. โ โ sit in and watch the sunlight fade. โ โ itโs getting late. โ โ thereโs no hand on the rein. โ โ as mack explained, there will be darkness again. โ โ let the awful song be heard. โ โ i know your beat, baby. โ โ your secret is safe with me. โ โ if secrets were like seeds, keep my body from the fire, hire a gardener for my grave. โ โ if secrets were like seeds, when iโm lying under marble, marvel at flowers youโll have made. โ
NOBODY
โ itโs gin oโclock. โ โ i think about you everywhere i go. โ โ iโve done everything and iโve been everywhere. โ โ iโve been fed gold by sweet fools. โ โ iโve had no love like your love from nobody. โ โ iโd be appalled if i saw you ever try to be a saint. โ โ i wouldnโt fall for someone i thought couldnโt misbehave. โ โ i once warmed my hands over a burning maserati. โ โ why should we deny the truth? โ โ we could have less to worry aboutย โย i wonโt lie to you. โ
TO NOISE MAKING (SING)
โ remember when youโd sing just for the fuck of it? โ โ the look of it was as sweet as the sound. โ โ i couldnโt name that feeling carried in that voiceย โย was it that, or just the act of making noise that brought you joy? โ โ you donโt have to sing it right, but who could call you wrong? โ โ put your emptiness to melody, your awful heart to song. โ โ you donโt have to sing it right. โ โ you donโt have to sing it right, but sing it strong. โ โ at best, youโll find a little remedy. โ โ at worst, the world will sing along. โ โ weโd scuff up our shoes. โ โ you didnโt always sing it right. โ โ who could ask you to be unbroken or be brave again? โ โ be unbroken. โ โ be brave again. โ โ who could ask you to be sound or to feel saved again? โ โ stick around until you hear that music play again. โ โ so honey, sing. โ โ sing. โ โ remember when youโd sing just for the love of it? and any joy it would bring? โ
AS IT WASย
โ there is a roadway, muddy and foxgloved, whenever iโd have life enough, my heart is screaming of. โ โ and in a few days, i would be there, love. โ โ whatever here thatโs left of me is yours. โ โ the highs hit the heights of my baby, and its hold had the fight of my baby. โ โ the lights were as bright as my baby, โ โ your love was unmoved. โย ย โ tell me if, somehow, some of it remains, how long you would wait for me. โ โ make your good love known to me. โ โ tell me about your day. โ โ and the nights were as dark as my baby, and half as beautiful too. โ
SHRIKE
โ i couldnโt utter my love when it counted. โ โ i couldnโt utter my love when it counted, but iโm singing like a bird about it now. โ โ iโm singing like a bird about it now. โ โ i couldnโt whisper when you needed it shouted. โ โ words hung above, but never would formย โย like a cry at the final breath that is drawn. โ โ remember me. โ โ remember me, love. โ โ remember me, love, when iโm reborn as a shrike to your sharp and glorious thorn. โ โ iโd no idea on what ground i was founded. โ โ all of that goodness is going with you now. โ โ then, when i met you, my virtues uncountedย โย all of my goodness is going with you now. โ โ all of my goodness is going with you now. โ โ dragging along, following your form, hung like the pelt of some prey you had won. โ โ iโm hung like the pelt of some prey you had one. โ โ remember me when iโm reborn as a shrike to your sharp and glorious thorn. โ โ i fled to the city with so much discounted. โ โ i fled to the city with so much discounted, but iโm flying like a bird to you now. โ โ iโm flying like a bird to you now. โ โ iโm flying like a bird to you now, back to the hedgerows where bodies are mounted. โ โ i was housed by your warmth. โ โ i was thus transformed by your grounded and giving and darkening scorn. โ
TALK
โ iโd be the voice that urged orpheus when her body was found. iโd be the choiceless hope in grief that drove him underground. โ โ iโd be the dreadful need in the devotee. โ โ iโd be the immediate forgiveness in eurydice. โ โ imagine being loved by me. โ โ i wonโt denyย โย iโve got in my mind now all the things i would do. โ โ i try to talk refined for fear that you find out how iโm imagining you. โ โ iโd be the last shred of truth in the lost myth of true love. โ โ iโd be the sweet feeling of release. โ
BE
โ be as youโve always been. โ โ lover, be good to me. โ โ be like the love that discovered the sin, that freed the first man and will do so again. โ โ be that hopeful feeling when eden was lost. โ โ itโs been deaf to our laughter since the master was crossed. โ โ which side of the wall really suffers that cost? โ โ be love in its disrepute. โ โ love, in its disrepute, scorches the hillside and salts every root. โ โ watch the slowing and starving of troops. โ โ be like the rose that you hold in your hand, that will grow bold in a barren and desolate land. โ โ love, wonโt you be as youโve always been? โ
DINNER & DIATRIBES
โ this club here is stuck up. โ โ i knew well from our first hookup the look of mischief in your eyes. โ โ your friends are a fate that befell me. โ โ hell is the talking type. โ โ iโd suffer hell if youโd tell me what youโd do to me tonight. โ โ thatโs the kind of love iโve been dreaming of. โ โ honey, i laugh when it sinks in. โ โ the evening is slowing. โ โ the end is in sight. โ โ itโs easier knowing what youโd do to me tonight. โ โ let there be hotel complaints and grievances raised. โ โ let there be damage ensued and tabloid news. โ
WOULD THAT Iย
โ i saw your hair like the branch of a treeย โ a willow dancing on air before covering me. โ โ that love in withdrawal was the weeping of me. โ โ the sound of the saw must be known by the tree. โ โ i fretted fire, but that was long ago. โ โ i blink in sight of your blinding light. โ โ itโs not tonight where you hold me tight. โ โ youโre good to me. โ โ with the roar of the fire, my heart rose to its feet. โ โ like the ashes of ash, i saw rise in the heat. โ โ i fell in love with the fire long ago. โ โ with each love i cut loose, i was never the same. โ โ iโm watching still-living roots be consumed by the flame. โ โ i was fixed on your hand of gold laying waste to my loving long ago. โ โ in awe, there i stood. โ โ though iโve handled the wood, i still worship the flame. โ โ as long as the amber of ember glows, all the would that iโd loved is long ago. โ
SUNLIGHTย
โ i would shun the light. โ โ share in eveningโs cool and quiet. โ โ who would trade that hum of night for sunlight? โ โ but whose heart would not take flight? โ โ but whose heart would not take flight, betray the moon as acolyte, on first and fierce affirming sight of sunlight? โ โ iโd been lost to you. โ โ i flew like a moth to you. โ โ oh, your love is sunlight. โ โ all the tales the same, told before and told again. โ โ a soul thatโs born in cold and rain knows sunlight. โ โ oh, my sunlight. โ โ all that was shown to me, sunlight, was something foreknown to me. โ โ all these colors fade for you only. โ โ hold me. โ โ carry me slowly. โ โ each day, youโd rise with me. โ โ know that i would gladly be the icarus to your certainty. โ โ strap the wing to me. death trap-clad, happily, with wax melted, iโd meet the sea. โ
WASTELAND, BABY!
โ all the fear and the fire of the end of the world happens each time a boy falls in love with a girl. happens great, happens sweet. โ โ happily, iโm unfazed here, too. โ โ wasteland baby, iโm in love with you. โ โ baby, iโm in love with you. โ โ all the things yet to come are the things that have passed: like the holding of hands, like the breaking of glass. โ โ iโm in love with you. โ โ and i love too that love soon might end. โ โ be still, my indelible friend. you are unbreaking. โ โ you are unbreaking, though quaking. โ โ that day that we watch the death of the sun; the cloud and the cold and those jeans you have on. โ โ you gaze unafraid as they sob from the city ruins. โ โ the stench of the sea and the absence of green are the death of all things that are seen and unseen. โ โ not an end, but the start of all things that are left to do. โ โ thatโs it. โ
