"Ohhh, aha! What you’ve got there are collectible cards from Digital Monster— you know, the online game? I guess it’s kiiiiiiinda like the Card Game, except not really."
Rina fails to catch on why he seems embarrassed. Maybe it’s because he was really bummed out by buying the wrong kind of booster? Regardless, she leans on her bike’s handlebars with a curious look.
"I didn’t know that people still played Hyper Coliseum. Isn’t that game kinda dead? I thought most people moved onto playing Digital Monster… I mean, like, Hyper Coliseum is kinda not recent at all, if you know what I mean."
That’s to say, she could remember people playing that game when she was a child. Maybe even younger.
Was that what this was?
"I've never heard of Digital Monster before." He said, completely truthful as he stowed away the cards in his pocket. "I guess, you could say, I'm really missing out on the times."
Or perhaps "not a part of this time" would have been more accurate to say. Where had his wandering taken him now?
In any case, this girl gave him the impression she was exceedingly carefree. She didn't seem to care about how others saw her, which was kind of impressive by itself.
And yet, he wondered. What had drawn her to him? What kind of assumptions had she made about him?
Despite everything, he finally glances back at her with an awkward, but friendly smile.
