Mr. Magoo ain't got nothing on her"

Is it just me or are female celebrities even worse drivers than regular women?  Someone should commission an experiment to determine why.

The Ideal Breaking Bad Endings

As most of you know, Breaking Bad is coming to a conclusion at the end of this season (which ends next summer....GRRRRR...), so I want to give my thoughts on a few scenarios which would make the ending of Breaking Bad the greatest thing evar.

A) Walt kills Skyler (assumed he lives happily ever after)

B) Walt kills Skyler and Walt, Jr. spits on her corpse and says, "Bitch!"  Walt and his kids go live happily ever after in the Bahamas with Uncle Jesse.

C) Skyler dies (possibly killed by a competitor, but who cares as long as she dies), Walt leaves the drug game and lives a legit life with the carwash happily ever after.

D) Walt is killed, and Jesse honors his friend's dying wish by killing Skyler and adopting his kids while he gets back with Brock's mom.

E) Walt leaves Skyler and leaves her with the baby.  He, Jesse, and Walt, Jr. go on a road trip trying to get with as many honies as possible while hitting up a different Waffle House for an All Star Breakfast special every morning.

F) Walt dies and Walt, Jr. takes over for his pops and becomes the Mac Daddy of all drug kingpins and engages in a hostile takeover of Denny's, where he makes his real money. Also, Skyler is killed somehow.

G) Skyler dies...Walt and Walt, Jr. have a bonding moment over breakfast (definitely have some bacon) while Jesse joins them. 

H) Mike kills Skyler. Mike, Walt, Walt, Jr., and Jesse become best friends forever, move in together, and live happily ever after.

I) Walt, Jr. runs over Skyler with his car and all of Walt's problems are solved instantaneously. Everyone lives happily ever after.

The Bourne Legacy Review

The new iteration of the Bourne series finds the series continuing the basic themes of the original trilogy while expanding on the mythos established previously sans Matt Damon.

Jeremy Renner does an admirable job as Aaron Cross who is the next generation of spy who is more of an enhanced human than brainwashed badass.  His motivations are a bit hollow and consist of mainly wanting to survive, but he's hard not to root for and works really well off the other main characters in the film.  The primary plot is parallel to the original and deals with the government shutting down any connections to Bourne, primarily by killing all their own super agents which is why our hero finds himself on the run.  The story is just as layered and occasionally confusing as the previous films.  The first half of the film doesn't even have Aaron Cross interacting with most of the cast, while Edward Norton portrays some head honcho in the government who does major damage control for the CIA no matter what the consequences and casualties are.  Norton and all the government type characters put in solid performance that keep you interested even though you find yourself rooting against them the entire film.  Rachel Weisz turns in yet another solid performance as Dr. Marta Shearing who is collateral damage for the shutdown of the "Outcome" program and finds herself on the run with Renner's Cross.  She makes believable mistakes as any civilian thrust into such a situation would be expected to make and develops a romantic relationship with Cross that is believable despite very little romance being shown on screen.  

This is a subtle film as a lot of aspects are implicit and even the action is toned down from the previous films.  There's some cool action pieces, especially a scene in Dr. Shearing's house midway through the film, however, the movie seems to lack a true climax.  There's a buildup with a chase around the world but then, it just ends.  Perhaps this structure was chosen to make a sequel more viable (PLEASE GET MATT DAMON!), but that was my main issue with the movie.  The lack of action didn't really bother me as the dialogue was smart and the acting is good to great during the film.  

Ultimately, if you liked the other Bourne movies, you're going to like this one.  It lacks a certain spark, but engaging performances by Jeremy Renner, Edward Norton and Rachel Weisz are more than enough to keep you on the edge of your seat as you wonder how a country "protecting" its citizens could commit such atrocities and deceit.

LET'S WATCH THE OLYMPICS!

I have watched approximately 2 minutes of the Olympics since it began.  I have, however, invested considerable more time in learning about the amount of shagging going on in the Olympic Village (which sounds like the most incredible place on Earth) and why Ryan Lochte is a sexy douchebag. 

I now wish I was good at some shitty, fairly unremarkable sport (can fantasy football be an Olympic event?) so I could get the 3 weeks of a lifetime and spend it trying to seduce Alex Morgan.  Usain Bolt set the world record in the 100?  I'm sorry, bro, I was too distracted by this Italian volleyball player's ass.  I can't pronounce her name, but I'm really hungry for lasagna now. 

I don't even want to broach the utterly ridiculous notion of the "spoiler" for the Olympics that have already happened.  Every time I hear someone complain about that, I want to throw a javelin through their eyes.  Who cares if you find out the latest 10 year old Chinese gymnast won before you watch it?  Does anyone watch the Olympics for suspense?  Michael Phelps won a swim meet...OMG...thank goodness I didn't find out about it when it actually happened!  There is no need for me to watch these games as I can read about it all online thanks to incessant Facebook chatter and news coverage on the games.  Also, any hot Olympian worth knowing is blown up on the interwebz sooner or later.  I may actually make this blog a shrine to Michelle Jenneke whose video was the most time I have spent watching these Olympic games.  I don't hate the Olympics or athletes performing in the games, I just couldn't care less. 

But you know Team USA basketball is running nonstop trains on every female athlete within their line of sight, and for that I salute you, USA.
