Can we just take a second to appreciate the game design of count the rice?? Like, the way down is, in some ways, hard to figure out! But once you figure it all out, the way back up is even harder! You’ve been given a small glimpse, just one (1) chance to see things with no pressure at getting it right, and hopefully you can use that knowledge wisely for the climb back up. The spot the difference room could, in theory, be passed on the first try if you’re paying enough attention on the way down. The rooms where you could potentially get stuck going up against a competitor are towards the top, where people are more concentrated (and may be trying either to win or lose! everyone’s goals are twisted around!) the second room, which at first is an easy one to get past (just let someone else guess and move on easily! Put your feet up! Have a drink!) becomes the ultimate struggle- two losers, one winner, everyone knows the game, and if you lose then you’re stuck there waiting for a third player for longer than you would like, knowing ~someone~ is counting rice!

first half of count the rice is funny because everyone’s threatening violence to sam or living their best lives in losers island while ify and catherine look like this
