Kalamkari Hand-Painted Sarees

Kalamkari is a popular and one of the oldest hand-painted sarees and textile artworks from South India. Only natural dyes are used in Kalamkari Sarees, an ancient style of hand painting done on cotton or silk fabric with a tamarind pen. It is incredible that a 3000-year-old craft of pen Kalamkari still survives, unaltered and majestic in its very simplicity.

“Madhubani painting is a famous art originated in the Mithila region of Bihar (India). Madhubani hand-painted art is considered as old as the era in which Ramayana was set. It is said that inhabitants of the Mithila region painted their homes and streets with Madhubani art. Madhubani paintings were done to celebrate the wedding of Lord Ram and Sita.
