Tbh I don’t know why with time travelling people always want to kill baby hitler when the obvious answer is to kill adult hitler while he was fighting in World War One. AITA for not giving my cat back to the former owner?

Last winter a cat (Orville) started living in my garden. I had seen him before that but he basically didn’t leave anymore. He was always there. I asked around the neighbourhood who he belonged to and no one knew, and I didn’t find anything about a cat like him missing. He was fighting with other cats and often had little wounds, and kept killing birds, so I looked into taking him inside. I took Orville to the vet and he didn’t have a chip. So as far as I knew there was no one looking for him so I got him dewormed and vaccinated and he‘s been an inside cat since June.

Now in late october there appeared a note at a bus stop in town of people looking for him, on the picture is definitely him, his real name is Tom, and they say he was always an outside cat and has been missing since September.

I haven’t notified them that I have him and don’t intend to. First of all, if in their eyes he’s been missing since September then they didn’t even notice he was gone for at least two months because he hasn’t been outside at all since June, and barely left my garden before. And then they seemingly waited another month to actually look for him. He did not have a good time outside where he got beat up by other cats constantly and is clearly happier inside. He’s getting along great with my other cat.

So AITA for keeping Orville instead of giving him to his former owners?
