Bguhhhh I'm gonna regret saying this later but I do wanna throw out there that while I certainly have some things to say about RTD's writing choices for the last two seasons I really don't think Doctor Who being on ice as it were is his fault or as a result of those writing decisions. Disney set the show up to fail - given how much it seemed to advertise Who (not at all) and the fact that War Between still isn't on Disney+, I really don't think Disney would have stuck around if the writing was "better." And, like, while The Reality War has some new problems and stupid things that perhaps that the show hasn't done before, you cannot convince me it is in any way a new low for the show. This is Doctor Who, it has done many stupid things over the course of the last sixty years.

I guess the reason I love the name of the doctor so much is kind of the bait and switch of it, where Moffat teases that the Doctor's real name is some secret mysterious birth name that's a surprise tool to save the day, but then the Doctor drops the title in the final line "but not in the name of the Doctor" and it just clicks that it's never been about the power of the name youre given at birth. The Name of the Doctor isn't alluding to the Doctor's "real name" but the promise inherent in the title "The Doctor", which is only powerful because the Doctor chose it for himself. Idk. Do you get it. This is because Dr Who is transgender.

So there’s a heat wave in the UK at the moment, and it got me thinking about how absolutely fucking insufferable it must be to have Clark Kent as a coworker during the heatwave.

Everyone’s sweating half to death in the office, there’s desk fans blowing paperwork everywhere but everyone’s too hot to care, when Clark motherfucking Kent turns up in his usual polyester suit, heads straight to the coffee machine, and then moves to stand right by the window where he tips his head back to try and get even more sun. When he casually comments, “Nice weather we’re having!” the fans don’t quite muffle the sound of snapping pencils.

keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it
