I’m straight up tired of people putting others down for asking questions that are perceived to be basic, *even and especially when those questions are about a divisive political issue*. I just saw someone ask what the acronym ICE meant and everyone was dogpiling telling them they “should be more informed already”. Do you think information falls out of thin air? Everyone needs to seek out information sometimes, and that is a *skill* that needs to be learned. Punishing people for developing that skill by asking questions is not going to make someone more informed. In fact it will do the opposite.

I was not the most intellectual person growing up, hell I'm still not. There were years where I thought it was shameful and embarrassing to not know what something was so I'd just laugh and pretend I was playing stupid and pretend I knew what certain things meant when they came up. THAT was embarrassing. Several years ago, a lifetime ago it feels like, I decided to just up and stop pretending. Whenever I came across a word or event or group or ANYTHING I didn't know I'd be honest and ask for an explanation. In almost every situation I had someone stop and be more than happy to help me in that moment. No embarrassment, no lying to play cool, just a fun learning moment. If everyone were to be open and honest when they didn't understand something I think it would only benefit everyone.
