“Okay... I know that looked bad, but I’m a prefect and if my friends want to use the prefect’s bathroom, I’m not going to give them detention for it.” Honestly no one cared for the most part. There were some prefects that did however, get mad when their bathroom had students that weren’t prefects.
“Hey Mols,” he said, sitting down beside her at Gryffindor table. “Did I miss anything interesting?” Dirk looked at the table of professors, wondering if there had been some kind of announcement or if anything had happened at the table while he was away.
“Hey, Ted,” Dirk said, sitting down beside his friend. “How are you doing? It seems like... I don’t know it’s been so long since we’ve actually talked. Are you alright?” He wasn’t thinking about everything going on right now because when he did, it gave him a headache.
Days were getting colder outside, which wasn’t entirely a good thing when it meant that there would be more cats roaming the castle more instead of the grounds. “I’ve been sneezing all morning. You’d think that wizards would have a better cure for allergies than muggles, but no.”
“Hey, Lockhart,” Dirk called out after the Ravenclaw. “Did you get that homework? I spaced out for a second and suddenly class was over.” He probably could ask someone in his house, but he didn’t feel like chasing after any of the other lions.
“Whoever said I didn’t have good dance moves is a liar.” Dirk was trying to keep his spirits high because he knew if he sat down to think about everything that was going on, he’d probably be upset. He wasn’t even talking to his parents about the problems in the wizarding world because he knew they’d probably pull him out of school. “See.”
“I know Hogsmeade is supposed to be fun, but I just don’t think it has the same feel as Diagon Alley. There’s something magical about it. I supposed I shouldn’t use that word specifically. Since they’re both technically magical. I can’t describe it.” Dirk didn’t realize he was speaking as quickly as he was.

“If I eat anything else, I think I’ll explode,” Peter groaned and leaned back a little in his seat. His stomach was close to bursting, but he eyed the lemon cake on the table with a little bit of longing in his gaze.
“I wouldn’t eat anymore if I were you then.” Dirk thought for a moment. “Don’t you wish there was a spell that made your stomach bottomless for a bit until it was reversed? That way you could try a whole bunch of foods at once and nothing would go to waste. When I go with my parents to dinner, I always end up feeling so bad about leaving so much on my plate. I just don’t have an appetite.”
The relief that flooded through Edgar when it was announced Kenny had been found he couldn’t even describe. And though he wanted to go and see his friend more than anything, just knowing he was alive and safe was enough to put a smile on his face as he sat at the table and let himself enjoy the feast. “Castle’s got its good vibes back finally it seems.” He said with a big smile to the person sitting opposite him. “Nice aint it?”
As much as he’d been trying not to be freaked out over Kenny’s disappearance, Dirk was a little bit terrified over it. Knowing that he was back was a bit of a relief, though he wasn’t sure he’d feel completely at ease until they figured out what happened. Until he knew he was safe. “I’m not sure I feel the exact same good vibes, Edgar; it is nice to know that Kenny is safe.” He wasn’t sure about everything being alright at all. “I’ll feel better when I know it’s not someone targeting muggleborns.”
“This is ridiculous,” Seraphina huffed and pushed her cup farther away from her. “Who even has the time to spike all the beverages in Hogwarts? And who has that amount of veritaserum at hand?”
“Yeah. It’s a bit... much.” Whoever it was that spiked all the drinks clearly wanted people to spill their secrets. Luckily, Dirk didn’t have that many secrets to tell. “It’s probably a priority to get the younger students to bed.” As boring as that sounded, he wasn’t sure what else he was supposed to do.

BIOGRAPHY
- let me just start by saying dirk’s family is messy. he’s the son of a duke but his family’s fallen out of favor in the public because his father married an american woman. his parents marriage wasn’t really appropriate and because of that, his dad kind of faded into the background a bit. but that was fine because he had his business and family to take care of. luckily, dirk grew up running around a flat in london, not knowing much about his own family.
- from a young age, there was something off about dirk. his parents always thought it was just his active imagination and since he was very into storybooks and fiction, they weren’t wrong. sometimes when things got too out of hand, he’d get scolded sent to bed early. for the most part, his parents didn’t seem to mind that he was a little unusual. though it was interesting for him to find out that he was a wizard and it explained a lot of the weirdness.
- dirk’s first real experience in the muggle world was gringotts. his parents went to exchange their muggle money for wizarding money and dirk peeked around his dad’s jacket to see the most interesting creature he’d ever seen: a goblin. unlike a lot of people, he took a liking to them. dirk found one of them that wasn’t busy and just asked him a bunch of questions about wizarding money, goblins, and gringotts. dirk became fascinated by that.
- hogwarts was a bit of an adjustment for him, since he was planning on going to a fancy muggle school, but he quickly found it to be enjoyable. sorted into gryffindor, he felt a bit out of place among them at first because he wasn’t as loud as some of the people in his house. but then he realized that he was just noticing the loud people because they were loud. now he’s a proud gryffindor and works hard to maintain good grades.
OTHER FACTS:
- his is absolutely fascinated by money; americans use different money than the brits, wizards use different money than both of them, other countries use different money
- he has a massive coin collection from other countries
- whenever he goes to diagon alley, he always ends up striking up conversations with the goblins working the windows at gringotts
- dirk is allergic to cats, so his pet is a barn owl named beatrice
- his name is theodoric, but literally he’s probably heard that twice in his life. if someone were to call theodoric, he’d probably get confused
- he can sew and is rather good at it
- dirk isn’t exactly known as a troublemaker, but he does dabble in forgery; never money or anything like that, just signatures mostly
- he isn’t a huge quidditch fan because he finds it tedious
- his least favorite thing about hogwarts is that muggle technology doesn’t work there
CONNECTIONS
- muggleborn family
- slug club friends / enemies
- fellow academics
- one of the louder / older gryffindors that have taken him under their wing
- someone he annoys with facts about goblins
- someon that makes fun of the fact that he usually just uses his owl to send letters to his friends at gringotts and not home / friends in the muggle world
- people that will tease him about being muggleborn
- friends that are interested in culture: dirk is actually very proud of his heritage as both part brit, part american, but also that he has native roots in mexico and it goes beyond just ethnicity, dirk is proud to be a muggleborn and proud of who he is
