very long frustrated vent post about steel ball run and it's awful distribution.
What the actual genuine fuck is wrong with Netflix and their release schedule? Sorry but Im just so fed up about this shit. We've waited patiently since 2022 for Steel Ball Run, hell personally I didn't think SBR would get adapted at all and if it did I surely assumed it still wouldn't be out to this day. Four years for the most anticipated part ever of JoJo and all we have is one 47-Minute episode of the entire first stage of the manga, and now we're getting a 2nd Stage which hasn't been revealed if it's another special episode like 1st Stage, and we don't even have a release date.
Don't misconstrue my anger, I'm not upset with the people at DP or anything like that, I'm grateful at all that we're getting Steel Ball Run, and I know it's definitely a hard task for them to animate given how much more complex Araki's art and detail becomes, and then the majority of the story taking place on horseback and horses being a bitch to animate let alone draw at all. I WANT everyone on the SBR Anime Team at DavidProductions to take their time with this part so we can have such great episodes like the 1st one; Great blend of 3DCGi and 2D when needed. If the team's behind on episodes or not that far in with the story when animated (Which I kind of have a hard time believing since Diego's character sheet shows a visual of his face drawn from a panel in the D4C Arc.) then I understand needing time to keep going, but if that's the case, why the hell do you release Episode 1 without any additional information of when to expect new content?
I don't know how much of temperature take this is but, honestly, I'd rather not have a Steel Ball Run anime if this is how they're treating it. I'm grateful we're getting the 2nd Stage this year sometime but it's complete nonsense to keep the official date from us. I don't know how they did it but they managed to find the fucking worst schedule of all time for a anime than Stone Ocean's distribution. If we're going to be getting 9 episodes that cover every stage, then at least have the decency to just drop them in a batch. I know that's heresy to say but, once we get the 2nd stage, we'll likely be in the dark about the 3rd stage, then the 4th, and so on.
They're corpo pieces of shit so I doubt it but I hope Netflix is seeing all the backlash and outrage and finally decide to give in, but if they are they probably genuinely don't care because we'll "watch it anyway." I'd say to all band together and cancel all our subscriptions to Netflix about this but, I doubt that'd even work and plus, maybe we shouldn't have subscriptions in the first place in general but that's neither here nor there or relevant to my current topic.
Shit needs to change, and fast. Again, I don't want the animators and team dedicated to making this part come to life to suffer and be crunched/rushed and whatnot, they need to have as much time so we can keep getting the same episode quality we got from the first stage, but Episode 1 should not have released this fucking early if they were just going to make us wait again regardless after it's drop.
Steel Ball Run Episodes sometimes.
the teaser for the 2nd stage does look great and very much up to par with the first episode, but it's hard to be excited knowing that whenever we get it, we'll likely be in the dark once more.
There's still the ultimate possibility that 2nd stage will be multiple episodes since it is much longer than Stage 1, but the teaser doesn't seem to make it out that way.
If this is the route they're going, I hope it's sooner, rather than later, and that it's batches of stages. I think chance for Weekly episodes is dead, unfortunately. I don't like being cynical or pessimistic or negative but...I think it's just too late for us to get weekly if this is how the anime is going to play out.
i know there's a lot bigger problems going on that need more attention over a silly anime, but I just really needed to vent my frustrations with this whole awful debacle. I love JoJo and I want to see it thrive, especially the Part 7 anime since it means so much to me. Ever since reading Part 7 for the first time back in 2017 in high school after my best friend in the world introduced me to it (All of JoJo, not just sbr) Johnny Joestar's character spoke to me in a way not many other characters have, and in this last year and the hardships I've faced, Johnny's character has practically helped me in so many ways with dealing with my own stuff. So i'm extra hurt by the way SBR is being handled and again... I just needed to vent. I do that a lot here I know.
