I was scrolling an online nonbinary community and found another ‘should we be allowed to use assigned sex at birth language in this community’ poll. IMO these terms aren’t always necessary, but can be helpful when discussing intersectional issues.
Examples:
Discussing the invalidation of AMAB nonbinary people
Discussing persisting misogyny toward AFAB nonbinary people
Discussing medical treatment complexities/misconceptions as an intersex nonbinary person
Again, I don’t think every post needs to begin with someone’s assigned sex at birth, and certainly no one should be forced to disclose this information- but disallowing people from expressing this is reductive and can detract from the nuance of an individual’s experience.
