listen, normally i keep quiet about certain things but with the captain marvel movie about to come out in digital formats / blu-ray, there’s something i gotta say about the whole shipping Carol Danvers with Yon-Rogg bc let me tell you how many kinds of fucked up this is. 

granted most people watched the movie and the movie alone, which okay. still, he lied to her and manipulated her only to be able to use her superhuman abilities. you can all say that he cared about her but it was only for his own means. period. he mentored to make her a weapon he could use, don’t think that this was bc he cared about her. no, they needed her. and he knew that if she knew the truth, she would never ever be on their side. 

sorry but there’s no excuse for that.

but wait, bc it gets worse in the comics. remember Enemy Within? bc i do. Yon-Rogg gives Carol a brain tumor. he takes away one of the things she loves the most : flying. turns it deadly, wants to keep her grounded. he terrorizes her in every possible way, and once she realizes that he is in her head, Carol decides to sacrifice herself rather than allow him to do anything else to the people that she loves. 

so you can all romanticize him bc he is pretty or whatever, the fact remains that he is an abuser and that he is manipulative and that’s no excuse.
