Plas collection

An updated look at my Plastic Man collection. This includes everything he has a brief appearance in or a mention. I think my favorite here is the Foglio mini-series, but I love any and all versions of Plas. I was pretty lucky to get a signed copy of Plastic Man: No More issue #1. Not my favorite series, but I appreciate Cantwell and the whole team for it. There are still a few in this pile I haven’t read yet because I am saving them for when I need some Plastic Man in my life. The collection is forever growing, hopefully more figures next.

A few months ago I changed my alarm to be the Superman theme and genuinely I wake up in a better mood because of it. Like I used to be pissed off when I heard my dumbass old alarm start blaring. Now I wake up with peace and serenity. Sometimes I just let it keep playing cause I genuinely like the theme and lowkey listen to it sometimes. And I thought it would make me start to like it less cause I’d associate it with my alarm but no. It is the best alarm in the world.

spoilers for deadman #2

Squealed with delight when I got the first taste of Plas. I hate to say it was slightly disappointing. I mean, he was kinda the main character throughout this since Deadman possessed his body, but I don’t think the writers know much about Patrick. I mean, they included part of my favorite origin of his so clearly they did their homework, but also he died from being stabbed? And he bled? He doesn’t like have blood and he wouldn’t be injured from being stabbed like at all. So… it was kinda silly. Still love that they included him at all.

As someone who has had depression most of my cognitive life and has experienced suicidal ideation since the single digits, I have recently been trying to appreciate life a bit more. It is easy to brush over the small joys of life and be utterly consumed by the more difficult and overwhelming parts.

I tend to focus on the bad of the world, but also in my own persona life, and it weighs me down a lot. But recently I've been trying to focus on the life I do have instead of the life I don't. There are so many good things in my life, things that I take for granted, that I have finally started appreciating more. And I've been trying hard to enjoy my hobbies and the things I love.

Sometimes I feel like I am wasting my life away doing nothing. I spend my days reading comics or playing games, but that's okay. I'm allowed to do that with my free time. Not everything has to be work. And I am guilty about spending my money on things one day I might not love as much as I do now, but that's okay too. What is the point of having more if you're not going to use it? Especially now when I'm at a point in my life when I have no financial responsibilities or burdens.

It's hard to remember that everything is okay. That the world isn't ending tomorrow, I'm not a terrible person, and there is so much love, joy, and beauty around me. I've been trying to up my lust for life recently, and I think you should too. Let's enjoy this time we have on this planet because we don't know how much we have left. It's beautiful we're even here to experience it at all.

I know this comes from a place of privilege, I have it far better than some and I understand that. My heart goes out to anybody experiencing misfortune or struggling with their own mental health. I just hope at least one person can read this and look around to see the beauty of life.

got into multiple arguments in the last 24 hours about Superman films and it’s apparent that people do not care about the mythos of the character, they just want to see him beat shit up. Which is like fine I guess?? But there is way more to Superman than his strength and people love to just boil him down to that. They don’t want to see his humility, they want to see a raw display of strength, which isn’t who Superman is. Idk it just makes me mad when people don’t appreciate his character or his films because they have a flawed understanding of the character. Pick up a book!

Why do I always love the pervert characters? First Plas, now Ambush Bug… I’m starting to see a pattern. And I think their comments are funny, mostly because they’re just absurd, but I’ve faced some… backlash for finding their perversion funny. Particularly this one Plas page that I am not going to disclose because I’ve already had people yell at me for laughing at it. Anywho, does this say something about me? Don’t answer that…
