❝ — The sweetest person? You’re beaming like you’re in love.❞ A offhanded joke of course, but Malva had no idea what the relationships of the Hoenn leaders were. In Kalos, the league was like family, however she knew it differed from place to place. The way Roxanne spoke of Brawly though… hell, maybe she could both interviews out of the way if Roxanne was going to keep talking about him. ❝ I take it you know him pretty well then, huh? Anyway, aside from this Brawly guy… we should get started.❞ Malva pressed the record button on her Holo Caster, quietly and slowly stating the date, time, person she was interviewing and region. She looked over at the enthralled gym leader, and smiled; maybe talking about Brawly would help make this interview better. ❝ So, Roxanne - as a gym leader, have you ever faced any sort of near death situations? Or been thrown into an event that left your heart racing?❞

‘ Oh no, we’re just friends. ’

Or at least, that’s the way it appeared to be. He hadn’t made any attempt on asking her out. Or maybe he was, and she just hadn’t realized! Oh no!! Was that the case?!….No, it couldn’t be, she would be smart enough to reali-OH! Malva was talking.

‘ Well, not really. I more provide the heart racing for the novice trainers , for they get to have their first battle for a badge. There was one battle that left my heart racing though. When our new champion battled me, I could sense how strong she was which made me excited. ’

❝ — Here? Well, whatever you say.❞ At the weak handshake, Malva raised a brow and dropped the other’s hand. She adjusted her glasses, and cleared her throat as she took a moment to think. Weak. This girl was shaking more than a buneary in heat… Well, some people just aren’t entirely comfortable with talking to others, and she guessed Roxanne fell under that category. Pulling out her Holo Caster, she flipped through a few apps before finding a recording one; however, Malva paused as the other just looked at her timidly. ❝ Well, let’s get this started. I’ll try to make it as short, and sweet as possible - I’m staying here till tomorrow morning, and then I head for.. Dewford? I have to interview that gym leader, Brawly and well… not sure what to expect with him.❞ She was trying to make small talk to help the other unwind; lord knows Malva wanted to do playbacks and hear a stuttering gym leader.

‘ Brawly? ’

She giggles at the thought of him being interviewed. He’d probably spend most of the time talking about surfing and exercising instead of himself. Maybe he would even talk about her! No, he wouldn’t, she just wished he would.

‘ Brawly is the sweetest person ever. Well, I mean, out of the people I’ve met. I’m sure there are nicer people out there.But he’s pretty sweet. He also may not be the brightest but he has a good heart.And nice muscles… ’

headcanon: Psychics freak Roxanne out. Being the analytical mind she is, the fact that people can do things a normal human cannot frightens her, and she can not wrap her mind around it. That's why, with the except of Liz & Tate, Roxanne tries to avoid or pretends to hate psychic users.

headcanon: Roxanne often overthinks and runs different scenarios over and over in her head. Because of that, she often suffers from headaches but keeps silent about them, not wanting people to worry.

”Yeah, yeah; one day I will but you know me. I’m all attack not defense and stat changing or something else. If there’s a chance to attack you know I’m going to take it!”

Brawly ran his thumb under his nose with a smirk wide on his face. He didn’t mind the interruptions that happened back and forth between them; it was normal! As a matter of fact if it didn’t happen he would be worried.

”Oh.. but you do! Eventually.. And what’s wrong with Rox? I think it’s nice.”

‘ Well… ’

Roxanne drifted off, considering the nickname. It truly wasn’t that bad, and she had never really had someone who cared enough to give her a nickname….She could grow to love it, maybe.

‘ I suppose it’s alright. ’

❝ — The pleasure’s all mine, Roxanne.❞ She was just as Malva expected - prime, proper, and poised. She really did radiate the air of an educated leader; but, how much experience did she have? How much did Hoenn differ from Kalos in that aspect? Taking a few steps toward Roxanne, Malva stretched her arm out and held her hand open. Roxanne looked a little on the younger side though… actually, she still looked like a teenager - was she really that young? ❝ Now, for the interview - where did you want to have it? Here in your gym? Whatever you feel most comfortable in.❞

‘ Uhm… ’

She probably looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Malva was even more intimidating in person. Well, not in person person because she had seen her in person before but had never ta-STOP! She was getting sidetracked. Nervously, Roxanne accepts her hand and shakes it weakly. Warm. Her hand was warm. See? She was a perfectly normal person too. No reason to be scared.
