I've been going back and rewatching early VSMP episodes and wow this series is so good

the range of vampire tropes and lore we get is so incredible to me.

on one end of the spectrum we've got vampirism as isolation, longing, grief. a tortured soul grappling with an eternal undeath that is void of anything worth sticking around for, a hunger that never ceases, a heartache for which there will never be a cure.

and we pair that with the direct opposite end of the spectrum: vampirism at its highest camp villainry. there is no inner turmoil and torment over the hunger: it's as natural as breathing is to the living. he simply must feed, and he enjoys it. people fear him, and he revels in it. he has no use nor desire for the trivialities of the living, is frustrated by the idea of blending in with them when he could be ruling from a blood soaked throne. his weaknesses are nuisances he's long grown accustomed to; he's whiny when they're in his way and whiny when they're not, as it means he's not as powerful as he wants to be, as he should be, as he was.

and now, they're stuck with each other, and the others who've travelled to oakhurst. can't decide if it's tragic or hilarious. probably both.
