Lots of 'owlin around today @wildlifediscoverycenter! This is Humble, a Great-Horned Owl - one of the largest owl species in the United States! If you find newly hatched or newborn wildlife this time of year, please let them be - often times, the mom or parents are off gathering food or hunting, sometimes only checking on them once a day. Only if they are clearly injured should they be "rescued". This is also a not an ideal time to do excessive tree-trimming, as many nests contain eggs or newborn hatchlings. Humble was rescued, along with her siblings, after their family tree was cut down where their mom had made a nest.
