About:
This is a joke/gimmick blog where I pretend to be a coalition of different diseases working to spread disease among the US population.
Overall, my goal with this blog is to provide accurate info about diseases, spread awareness, and hopefully make a few people laugh.
Blog pronouns are they/them on account of I'm pretending to be multiple diseases.
Content:
This blog's focus is mostly on infectious disease, but you may see the occasional post about non-infectious diseases or chronic conditions.
Because the right-wing leadership in the US is doing The Most to help spread disease, you can expect to see posts "supporting" the current administration. You might also see posts acting like autism is the worst thing ever. Please be assured that these are not my actual opinions.
While I am playing a character, and will reblog posts from other character/parody/gimmick blogs, I'm generally not interested in extended role-playing.
I am usually pretty good at remembering to add alt text to images in my original posts. If I miss one, please let me know.
I will attempt to tag future posts giving bad advice (e.g., joke posts promoting disease-spreading behaviors) as #unreality. I will not use this tag for posts about current events (e.g., posts "celebrating" new outbreaks) or for silly posts (e.g., disease-inspired baby names or costumes). If you know you'll need more consistent tagging, or if you have other concerns like contamination OCD that make this blog a bad space for you, this may be a blog to filter and block. Please do what you've gotta do to protect your wellness.
Requests for folks engaging with this blog:
If I say something inaccurate, please correct me. I'm not a doctor, microbiologist, or epidemiologist, so I may get details wrong on occasion.
Feel free to tag me in posts and to send asks, but please forgive me if I don't respond. I do not work for the CDC, but I do work in public health, and sometimes I reach saturation for how much I can handle thinking about this stuff.
Additionally, I'm trying to keep out-of-character / non-disease-related posts to a minimum. Sometimes I'm sent things that are funny or interesting, but they just don't align with what The Diseases would post.
While I like to pretend-promote bad health decisions, please note this is not a catch-all "bad life choices" blog. I am unlikely to publish asks that are "confessions" of silly things like eating non-food items, petting venomous animals, etc. etc.
I cannot give medical advice and will ignore asks requesting it.
In conclusion:
Get your flu and COVID-19 vaccines
I don't know what a nurgle or The Corruption is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.
