The wink coming from his fake husband forced Wyatt to send back a small smile and a nod, hoping to god that it didn’t look overly fake. He wasn’t good at this part of things and if someone was going to see through him he didn’t want it to happen at their first party here. “I’ve never held too much interest in gossip. I did know moving to a smaller place though would make it harder to duck.” A complete lie, Wyatt loved gossip. But he preferred to be the puppet master when it came to the bigger cities and what was being said in those kinds of places.
A small laugh and he shook his head quickly, “Please never tell my husband that I just did that. I’ll get a lecture about not being able to be nice for five minutes.” Wyatt hadn’t been able to help himself though and he would have to fix that if they were going to last more than a few months here. “Well technically, stepson. He’s Oliver’s from a previous marriage. From before he realised just how mad he was about me.” A teasing tone to his voice and he nodded, “Dogs are much easier, I hear. And they like seeing you a lot more.” He was still slowly bonding with Matty but that would only come with time. “Looks like they are.” May as well grab Oliver a drink as well before they started over to their husbands. “Wait, you have a woman watching you in your own home and complaining? That’s– wow.”
Oliver was still trying to understand everyone in their neighborhood, and perhaps pick apart why the marshals had placed them there. It was also nice to have another same-sex couple to lessen the strange looks him and Wyatt received offhandedly. It almost made him paranoid that they could tell he was faking things, but alas they just weren’t used to people such as them.
Patiently he folded his hands in his lap. Dark hues locked on Caspian, and only wandering to look toward Wyatt or make sure Matty was playing at a safe distance. “He does seem protective, but that’s good. Wyatt has a resting bitch face that last for days.” As if he didn’t have one himself. “Yeah, just the one.” Poor Matty inherited his height, so he was exceptionally easy to spot. “Matty is there.” Oliver pointed him out. “Do you have any kids? pets?” He may as well ask now, perhaps they could hang out more. For research purposes, obviously. Not being around his pseudo husband for awhile wouldn’t hurt him. Oliver nodded while they watched their husbands. “We moved here for a fresh start, and we heard it was a decent place to raise Matty. Couldn’t argue the affordable price and decent amount of square footage of the house either. The realtor really sold us on this street, that’s for sure.”
Cas let out a laugh at the comment about resting bitch faces, “Okay well I think he’s going to get along well with Liam. I’m pretty sure the last time I saw him smile was our wedding. And even then.” That wasn’t even remotely true but it wasn’t like Caspian could talk about what would actually make his husband smile. “Oh God no.” Blinking twice he tried to backtrack, “I just mean– uh– we’re not ready for children or even sure that it’s something that will be in our future. He’s the only family I really need.” God he was digging this hole deeper and Cas really had to pray that no one overheard him. It wouldn’t look good when some had been convinced that he and Liam were trying for kids.
Though thankfully their husbands joined them before he could open his mouth any more, Cas wrapping his arm around Liam’s waist with a small smile. “Plus, Liam here is getting on a bit, we don’t need him to be ancient when our kids are in high school.” He was definitely going to pay for that comment later on and hopefully in the fun way. “So, Babe, giving our new neighbours all the horror stories of the street yet?”
“That’s as true a statement as I’ve heard, though it can be rather peaceful. Once you assert some dominance over the block.” Liam replied, he didn’t have to go into just hot Caspian and him made the neighborhood their bitch. He sure as hell was going to gossip with his husband about this later anyway. “You secret is safe with me. My husband is used to me being a dick to everyone but him. So if he asks, I greeted you like an asshole extraordinaire.”
Kids were never his thing, because he wanted Caspian’s attention all to himself. So he tries to have a casual face while Wyatt explains the kid is from his husband’s previous marriage. “I admire your patience, but yes I can attest dogs are man’s best friend besides the husband.” He scoffed thinking about their fall lady. “Yeah, you’ll know when she shows up...trust me.”
Liam pressed a quick kiss to Caspian’s cheek, handing over the extra drink to him. “Hey baby, miss me? Hmmm? Me? Spreading gossip? No..but I did warn about the insufferable shrew. What were you two talking about?”
