Hello! We are Disney Vacation Guide, bringing you the best and most useful advice for your next Disneyland trip as well a whole plethora of interesting and made up Disneyland facts. Feel free to send asks about the parks and for free advice about your next trip!
A DVG tip for experiencing the best of the new Walt Disney animatronic.
Alright Mouseheads, We here at DVG have the latest and greatest tips for experiencing the most with the best animatronic in the parks.
First of all, as always with new attractions you want to plan for it to be your second ride, as we always say here at DVG, second place is first not trampled when it comes to the early morning crowds, am I right ladies.
Second of all, stay hydrated, nobody wants to spend 7 dollars on bottled water so come in prepared to wait, though we actually don't recommend using the bathroom before hand, that's our first insider tip.
Third is the Lillian experience. If you're one of the last ladies in the theater you can ask for an experience for the Lillian experience and... ride Walt's peoplemover, completely accurate to his original size. It's perfect for people who's prince is Uncle Walt himself with be thrilled to here about how much of a tender lover he is and thanks to our experienced team here, we have all the details to make your magical day even better.
For those staying on park property we have a special tip starting out, for those not you're probably going to want to skip this one. Alright, our tip is to dress like Minnie Mouse, this gives a less tender and more rigorous ride, feeling less like the Peoplemover and more like the Matterhorn. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but in a move for gay rights our intern Greg went dressed like Minnie and got to experience it as well. Greg will be posting a follow up for all of our fellas and ladies who prefer a back stage pass to a front entrance, just as soon as he's out of the hospital.
Now I can hear you saying "DVG, what are some small tips that I can do" and I hear you, staying on park property is expensive and risking a hospital visit just isn't in some peoples vacation plans, we really do get it and I really do hear you constantly. Our first tip is to drink a lot of water and take Uncle Walt to typhoon lagoon for water rides. Our next tip is to call him Uncle Walt . Our next tip for those bratty Disney adults out there any small world jokes about it are both inaccurate and not effective. For plus sized riders we recommend eating a cup of Walt's Chili while riding and can assure you you'll have no issues in riding this ride.
Now we do have one specific dream we have to crush, no the Roy Disney add on isn't real. I hear you loudly and truly ceaselessly the dream of meeting the brothers in the middle and being spitroasted like the skewers at bengal BBQ is one that will have to remain a fantasy, but with the new leadership potentially coming Disney may listen to the fan outcry on expanding this experience, I mean hey, the brought back the Handwich right?
After meeting your prince and getting your on ride photo, we recommend rehydrating before meeting up with the hubby and kids, or wife, or they, we here at DVG celebrate all kinds of families. Then going on more low key rides for a bit especially if you went with the Minnie tip you're gonna maybe want to take the train around the park for a while to recover while still letting your party see some sights.
While this event is new, be sure to try the great big beautiful burger in tomorrowland, I haven't always loved galactic grill, but this hits it out of the park being a perfect beefy consistency with the melty cheese and you know we here at DVG love a good sauce and the Walts chili mayonnaise sounds weird on paper but they absolutely nailed it

D23 2024 parks news
So as we have all heard Disneyland forward is planning on adding a Pandora avatar experience to California, we got confirmation on the other parts being added. There is a lot to cover here. 1) An extension to Galaxies Edge to give us a new intense submarine ride themed after the journey into the planets core from Episode One, Jar-Jar's Bombad Submarine Voyage is expected to open in late 2026. 2) The return of Halyx to the main stage of Tomorrowland, pumping out tunes like it's the 1981 again. You know we here at Disney Vacation Guide can't get enough of those New Wave beats. 3) Great moment's with Lincoln is sadly being replaced with current moments with Jimmy Carter. A real life meet and greet with America's 39th president. 4) The rumored new Tomorrowland ride will be for Disney's new acquired long running sci-fi franchise. Doctor Who is being added to Tomorrowland and the ride (Adventures in Time and Space) is expected to replace the defunct Tomorrowland theater and showcase both the History of Disneyland and the sci-fi juggernauts at the same in a light hearted adventured narrated by our current doctor Ncuti Gatwa. The 4th doctor and Daleks are being added as character meet and greet. Galactic grill will include a fish fingers and custard meal. If I don't write a joke soon as part of this It's because I lost the plot and this just sounds rad.
5) A live action remake of Emperors New Groove staring Chris Pratt as Kronk, Timothee Chalamet as Kuzco and Scarlett Johansson as Yzma. This comes along with plans to remove Mr Toad's Wild Ride and replace it with a dark ride based on the live action remake specifically.
New payment method
OMG you guys, I can't believe I how convenient the new Disneyland payment method is and how few people know about it, but don't worry here is the lowdown on how to skip those long checkout lines.
This does require the Disneyland app, which if you haven't downloaded and you plan on going, go do it now it's free and incredibly useful. You're going to want to as this new payment method requires having your park tickets linked with the app and you'll need to scan the your tickets on your phone, this might change while they're rolling this out. Then you simply go and pick out whatever you want, you know we here at Disney Vacation Guide are all about that churro toffee at Pooh's Corner and rather than pay at the counter, you walk out with and continue enjoying your magical day. Now this is the really important step you want to scan your ticket on your way out and your card will be charged will everything you have as you leave the parks in one easy quick payment. This is for whatever you have so be sure to check your little ones bags for any unwanted purchases.
The Disney Vacation Guide's ranking of the top 10 best Disneyland/ California adventure bathrooms to have a meltdown in.
The Bathrooms on Hollywood Boulevard next to the art of animation building, these quite bathrooms are rarely busy and always clean. This is the perfect place to sob in the stall. It's almost hard to recommend any other bathrooms in that park because of how perfect it is.
The Blackspire outpost bathrooms in Galaxies edge. We've been there, we waited 2 hours for rise of the resistance after eating our lunch, when the exhaustion and overstimulation hits you. While quite busy this spot has the perfect combination of lighting and light theming is perfect for you to have a good cry before heading on over to smugglers run.
The Hungry Bear bathrooms in critter country, with amazing proximity to Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Haunted Mansion, Pooh bear and Rise of the Resistance, this is the perfect place for all my over planners out there who know they're going to have a meltdown to head too. What's extra nice is that just upstairs is the Hungry bear restaurant so your party can grab a snack while you quietly sob.
The Adventureland entrance bathrooms. Now these are special because I would rank these higher or lower depending on the time of day. During the day these wouldn't hit our top 10 for places to get your cry on but when the post fireworks crowd hits, this easily wins out and is my number one for that magical and chaotic half hour.
The Autopia bathrooms. From our teams experience these bathrooms tend to be rarely used compared it's sister bathrooms at the end of space mountain. It's perfect for a really severe meltdown due to it's proximity to both the Disneyland Railroad and Monorail, so if your meltdown is severe you can hit the eject button and go back to your hotel.
Hollywood Backlot bathrooms. Due to low ride capacity and slow loading times of, basically everything near it this is one you're going to see and if you don't you should probably drink some water, pro tip. Despite how frequent it's use is for guests it's relatively hidden making it a hidden gem for all your needs, not just scream crying over how you've spent 70 dollars on food and it's not even 10:30, don't worry besties, we've been there too.
Alice in wonderland bathrooms in fantasy land. If this was a ranking of theming these would go higher for sure. These stalls are large and rarely used making it a perfect place to cry. Now I know what you're thinking, "if it's perfect why is it not top five?". This is due to the fact that when it is used it's often by families with little ones due to it's proximity to fantasyland and less extreme rides.
Tomorrowland entrance bathrooms. Tucked right between Star Tours and the Plaza Inn these are perfect if you're like me and need to go on Star Tours multiple times every visit, and if you're like me, you know how long those lines are and have also likely gotten your mickey ears stuck in the under seat containers on star tours and prevented a family from sitting down, then needed a place to calm down after the social embarrassment, no shame, this is your bathroom to cry about that in before going again on star tours.
The Space Mountain bathrooms. This is the antithesis of it's Autopia sister bathroom. These bathrooms are loud and service one of Disneylands most consistently slammed rides as well as being near the exit of star tours. Compensating for that these bathrooms are massive and the noise means nobody will be able to here you meltdown. This rates higher for our loud criers, we see you.
Paradise Gardens Bathrooms. These bathrooms are probably the best hidden gem of a bathroom in California Adventure but there greatest strength is also there biggest weakness, location. It's far from any of the big wait time rides or crowds in the park so you may not be near it when then need to cry comes. If you are consider yourself lucky as you are in for a treat of a cry spot.
Big Disneyland lawsuit news.
In a record breaking court case the likes of which we at Disney Vacation Guide have never seen before. The Buzz Lightyear animatronic has been acquitted on all charges for his involvement in the January 6th riots. Additionally we here at Disney Vacation Guide have heard rumors that Disney CEO Bob Iger has been in talks about replacing the animatronic due to bad press regardless of the court's final decision. That would of course lead to a shutdown of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, so if this is a must for you and/or your little ones I would keep an eye on this story and plan accordingly.

A special event
We all heard the rumors and the recent D23 Expo confirmed it, Disney is unveiling there first openly gay guest and we at Disney Vacation Guide believe it's about time. The 23 year old Kenneth Smith had this to say "it's a honor knowing the doors I will open for other guests to come here and be there truest selves". We're rooting for you Ken!
The re-opening of a classic ride.
We've all heard the news and are all exited to hear that the Adventure Thru Inner Space will be reopening in the fall of 2024 replacing Star Tours, but we finally have details on this beloved Monsanto educational ride. It will be a 1 to 1 recreation of the original and as part of the promotional event for this ride Disney will be selling a orange soda float at Alien Pizza Planet called the "Agent Orange", it'll have orange soda, vanilla ice cream and a fresh pomegranate simple syrup and I for one can't wait to give it a try. The float will also be available at the hungry bear restaurant in critter country.
Hydration tip
Keeping hydrated is important, especially on those hot California days but we at Disney Vacation Guide have the low down on Disney's best kept secret for staying hydrated in the park. The water on Pirates of the Caribbean is not only drinkable but uniquely flavored with a smooth tropical twist, sort of like a pineapple LaCroix. Bring an empty water bottle as this is a secret your not going to want to miss.
What to do if it rains.
Though rain is rare, it is possible for your happiest vacation ever to become a little damp, here is what we recommend doing incase it literally rains on your parade. Go to guest services on main street and wait 45 minutes to yell at the guest service cast members until your face goes red, your rage at them is completely justified as #insidersecret the people behind the desk control the weather and can in fact change it to better accommodate your trip and aren't doing so because they hate you.
Shoes!
Disneyland is a lot of walking, more than you think. Make sure you have the most comfortable shoes and that you've broken them in before going. Our secret hack is to go barefoot, if Mickey lets Pluto run around this park we figure we can let our dogs out as well. It saves you the issue of your shoes getting uncomfortable in the first place.
