Almost as soon as he had spoke out, Nagisa clasped his own hands over his mouth. What a grave mistake he could have made and the stranger’s voice before him couldn’t be anymore right. Instantly, he had a wave of regret wash over him and he remained silent for a moment, partly in shame and also to listen out to see if his outburst attracted any unwanted attention. Luckily, the eerie silence remained intact. His attention turned back to the shadowy figure in front of him.
“I… sorry. You scared me, I thought you were one of them.”
Not that shouting at a pariah was the best course of action either. Nagisa huffed, realizing just how tired he was to make such poor decisions and how easily those decisions could have ended his life.
He crawled out from his hiding spot, approaching the man, though his step still had some hesitation in it. Sure, he wasn’t one of those monsters, but to seem so calm and lighthearted about this whole situation… that didn’t seem right to Nagisa. It was definitely something for him to be cautious about.
“You’re running from them too, right? Do you think… I could come with you?”
It was a forward proposal but at this point, Nagisa only knew that he didn’t want to be alone anymore. Even if he was a bit wary of the other, he had spent the whole day by himself, scared for his life and if he could at least have the company of someone else, someone to work with in finding safety, then maybe he’d feel a little bit of comfort.
“Please, I need to rest a little but as soon as my legs stop hurting, I promise I won’t slow you down!”
He's antisocial, not heartless, and though Soubi wasn't about to rally around the streets as a self proclaimed defender of the people, he also couldn't abandon someone for no good reason. Their fates had become entwined now, whether he liked it or not.
When hearing the other begin to scuffle around in the darkness, hues squinted to glean a better focus of the individual. It was already evident by the lack of baritone in their voice that they weren't very far into their teens. Surely enough, when the petite blonde emerged from his hideout, Soubi's precognitions were proved right.
"I know."
Another smile tugged at his lips, neutral enough to eclipse whether it was to endorse a sense of amicability -- or simple amusement that his presence had momentarily terrorized the boy. The tentative steps greeting him only fuelling an even more obvious insouciance, playfully, he outstretched his hand and motioned towards him, like trying to coax a startled puppy out of its corner.
"You want to come with me?"
The pleading came as a bit of a surprise, it was survival instinct to collect into groups when facing danger, but Soubi had not expected to gain an extra responsibility. He stayed silent for a moment, pretending to mull answer over when it had been a no brainer from the start. He couldn't leave the boy here on his own, Ritsuka would never forgive him for being so cold.
"Alright, but it's too dangerous to rest here."
Staying in one area for too long was as good as inviting the Pariah to sign the both of them up on their evening menu.
"Saa, but you'll only slow me down if you're tired. I guess I'm going to have to carry you."
「guess I wouldn’t know. we didn’t have that kind of technology where I came from」
"You're missing out." Casually props the door of the electronics store open with his foot.
"How about a try?"
comprehension & apprehension ✰⁎* CA Event: Sunbather / OPEN
It wasn’t long after the chaos began that the whole city seemed in ruin, zombies everywhere, people screaming or yelling in all directions. Had he not been smack dab in the middle of it all, Nagisa would have thought he was watching a 3D zombie flick.
He had been running for what seemed like an eternity. The boy didn’t carry any weapons but at least he had his agility and had managed to escape being attacked several times by the flesh-hungry ghouls. But like how a gun could only hold so many bullets, his legs could only store so much energy before his body needed a reload. He could still walk at least, but if he were ambushed, his chances of escaping would drop drastically if he didn’t get some rest.
Panting heavily, he looked around his surrounding area. For once, the noise of destruction seemed to be behind him and the street he landed upon was fairly still. He paused and listened to his best ability, listening for any movement, groaning, any signs that the monsters were nearby. So far, so good. He then took the chance to look at the area itself. He had no idea where he had ended up, he had been running mostly to fend for his life rather than to get to a destination, but something was telling him it would all be okay once he got back to his apartment. He felt he was close, but with his mind jumbled from everything going on, he couldn’t focus on any landmark to figure out where he was.
That didn’t matter right now. Finding a dumpster on the side of the street, he squeezed himself between it and a building’s wall, crouching down to catch his breath. At this point, reality started to set in and he began to understand. He understood why his friends looked on with suspicion when the scientists brought anything fun to the city, understood why so many people hated it here, cursed being here. He understood that he could very well die here. This wasn’t a fun adventure, this wasn’t a movie. This was real life and for once he was in a tough situation that he wasn’t sure he could get out of—
A small rustle and a few footsteps. No way, he made sure to check the area! Could they really move that fast? Nagisa looked down at his legs, they were still shaking from fatigue… but he was sure he still had some adrenaline to make one more escape, maybe. A shadow began to loom over him and he jumped, letting out a yelp, his cover was blown. The only thing he could do now was face the enemy head on. With what little energy his legs had to hold him up, he backed up against the wall, not knowing if the one approaching him was friend or foe.
“ST-STOP!! Don’t come any closer!!”
Well, this was certainly more exciting that any computer games he'd ever played, a lot more perilous too. What a way to ruin a festival, not that Soubi appeared any less nonplussed about zombies than he did when surrounded by humans. Honestly, the Sentouki didn't harbour any great fondness for either species, but at least humans didn't make copious attempts of cornering him to carve large chunks of flesh out of his body with their teeth.
Things would have been a lot less troublesome for Soubi had he been allowed control over of his full arsenal of spells, alas this was not the case. As much as his self preservation switch was at an all time low to non existent, ending up as a half consumed slab of meat sounded like more hassle than it was worth.
For now, he'd decided to retire to his apartment -- or what remained of it and hope for the best. The scenery illustrating his journey back was a gruesome one. Even as someone who rarely flinched at the sight of gore, the mutilated cadavers of those who had yet to respawn and large, crimson puddles pooling at his feet made the base of his stomach churn.
Taking a turn into one of the alleys that sliced through his intended route as a shortcut, the sudden command being hauled at high volume barely caused him to miss a breath. He stopped dead in his tracks, as instructed, veering an aloof gaze towards the source of the voice.
"Don't worry I've already eaten today."
"Do you think it's ok for you to be this loud though? They might hear us, then we'll be in a lot of trouble."
Reblog with your (muse's) best smile!
「not…really. I’ve seen ‘em before, yeah, but being able to just watch one is an entirely different thing」
"Is that right."
"They're actually a lot more fun for playing video games, than watching."
「oh, uh— not really. just…looking, I guess.」
"Ah."
"Not many televisions where you're from?"
Even if there was no real reason for him to be quite as protective with his identity in this environment, Tieria was still edgy of anyone taking his picture. More so when a mobile device was being waved in front of his face by someone he’d met less than a minute ago, with no valid explanation behind why he wanted photograph.
"Absolutely not."
"I suggest you put that away, immediately.”
"Mm? But Tieria chan is cute when he smiles."
Is he making you feel uncomfortable yet? Either way, Soubi abandoned his intentions of taking a picture and buried the cellphone out of sight into the pocket of his coat. Maybe another day, he'd have more luck with the endeavour.
Meeting a favourite anime character of yours wasn't exactly an everyday luxury. He had to at least make one memory, and photographs were his usual method of going about it.
Well, it was Ritsuka's usual method, that had rubbed off on the younger boy's fighter.
"Have I made you angry?"
very intently watching television screens through a shop window.
"Anything good on?"
There must be, he looked positively spellbound by the imagery.
“There are people that say they’ve been here even longer than that, actually. But a lot of people don’t last more than a few days or weeks, so it’s hard to say.”
"Ah, is that right?"
"It's normal for people to throw away the things they don't like, and keep the ones that they do. Sounds like these scientists are no different from anyone else afterall."
