do you ever sit and think about your female ancestors and like how many of them endured forced marriages, sexual abuse, physical violence and complete deprivation of education and autonomy and suffered silently for literally centuries. going through pregnancies and child birth without modern medicine, having multiple children and watching most of them die before the age of five because that was just the way of life back then? and ultimately you are a product of their pain? i think about them a lot and then i think about how many women continue to share their reality in this current year
tbh lifting has replaced a lot of my other unhealthy coping mechanisms and i dunno if this is any healthier but im gettin free stuff this way so??? im gonna count that as an improvement lmao
Same here. To some degree, it’s actually improved my life: - it’s got me getting out of bed, getting dressed, and getting out of the house - it’s given me the first-hand understanding that no, people generally *aren’t* watching you all the time when you’re out in public, which has actually helped me with anxiety issues - it’s given me a sense of accomplishment. For someone with massive self-esteem issues, this is huge - it’s got me using social skills that have become learned behaviour which I do when I’m not lifting: not wanting to look suss has probably made me a nicer person to random people - it’s made me better at being aware of my surroundings and focussing. I think this is how mindfulness is meant to work, but previous attempts at trying it didn’t really work for me. - it’s allowed me to engage in small acts of self-care which I previously wouldn’t have justified due to the cost - it’s facilitated me eating healthier - I’ve gotten into using my brain and teaching myself skills and researching. When depression fogs up your ability to do that, which it did to me mid-year, actually being able to do it again feels amazing. Again, it’s becoming a learned behaviour which is helping me get into learning things in other areas - it’s minimised the effects of poverty, many of which are psychological and a lot which are rooted in a sense of helplessness for me - it’s made me better with money. For some reason, when you can’t have ANYTHING, you want EVERYTHING, but once you realise you can have anything, part of you realises that you don’t particularly want it and you don’t bother, in the same way as just eating all-round healthy and not guilt-tripping yourself about food makes you less prone to crash dieting. I’m actually working on getting savings happening now. - it’s helping me get my shit together - it’s given me SOME control over things. When you’re poor, your options and control is limited, and that thinking starts to permeate every other area of your thinking. Now, I think, “I have choices.” And that’s started permeating my thinking elsewhere. Having choices = feeling better Does this sound fucked up? Probably. But it sure as hell beats hurting myself or other people.
Is anyone else scared that like eventually security is gonna get too good and we won’t be able to get past it, and is stocking upon things now like a doomsday prepper just in case?
BOY HOWDY DO I HAVE A STORY TO TELL LATER
Here we go! So this happened a couple weeks ago at an Ulta not in my state (I drift around- it’s hard for me to stay in one place).
ANYWAY- I mosy up and into the store, get a shopping bag and prepare to do my thing. I’m just walking around when another shopper leaves the store and sets off the towers.
Homegirls doesn’t keep walking and gets pulled to the side by the SA. SA asks to look in her bag and we’ll shit- home girl lets her go through her shit. The lifter is shaking and looks like she’s about the cry and I honestly felt awful. SA goes to town and it’s like Mary Poppins fucking bag with all the stuff- perfume, razor blades, lipstick, palettes. The haul was easily over $1000.
The police get called and this is where I leave bc yo even if you think I’m stupid, I’m not stupid Aaron Burr, sir. After 20 minutes, I walk back and 4 police officers are hanging outside with some of the SA’s while the smoke. Homegirl lifter is gone RIP
Anyway, I overheard the conversation between the police and SAs and hot fucking damn. They were talking about liftblr. Apparently LP like to keep up with us but contacting the police doesn’t do anything because this is all role play (so fuck off to everyone who reports us- you’re wasting time). They talk some smack about us, apparently are actually impressed by some of us??? 😳😳, and then … Then Ulta LP MENTIONS MY URL.
I have a case file apparently but they can’t prove anything. They don’t even know what I look like. What they know is that I’m 15-25 and I’m a girl. So the main customer demographic of Ulta.
That’s really specific.
TL;DR
Ulta SAs and the police are my number one fans and I really just???!?!?!? 😂😂
Scary stuff by target :) Stay away from target :) Unless you strictly conceal in fitting rooms :) if you conceal in fitting rooms (w out leaving the package NEVER LEAVE THE PACKAGE) then I feel like your safe -obviously if you go in w fifteen and come out w three items this tip will not be in your favor. Be smart
Target LP is fucking scary good. I got recognized & followed around at one location 2 full months after lifting my winter coat at a different location.
This reddit post made me quit lifting from any location anywhere for a long time... I didn't try it again until I got different glasses and a new hairstyle, PLUS a different car with new plates, PLUS a new drivers license with a different address. 😎
I lifted $20 worth of greeting cards (7 cards) today because I couldn’t decide which one I wanted so I decided to just lift them all and figure it out later
i get serious anxiety about minor consumer decisions... and this right here ^ is my favorite perk of lifting
Yall
how the fuck could I go about lifting bath mats & toilet seat covers? lmao
I lifted a bath mat from Target once, before I knew how hardcore their LP was. Just bring a big bag and pick out one you can fold/roll up really tight to fit. Meander through the clothes section and pick up some things to try on. Conceal in the fitting room. Same should go for seat covers, but you'll just have to do it one trip at a time I guess.
I realllllly don't recommend doing this at Target specifically though lmao. I got followed around next time I went to the one I did this in and I've never gone back 😂
tips from a former dsw employee
• you gotta be chill. if the sa swings by (which is required of them, chat up everyone in the section) speak with them briefly, even just the niceties. ignoring them tips off.
• unless it’s peak days (fri - sun) there’s generally only one person per section, except for clearance they usually have 2. men’s shoes&athletics are usually one section. then whatever’s the seasonal shoe (boots, sandals, etc). then regular stock (keds, sketchers, vans, comfy stuff) and women’s dress shoes. accessories generally are manned by anyone who happens to see someone in the section
• there’s generally an MOD and then another one of the managers will be floating around too.
• we definitely use those walkies to talk about suspicious characters.
•there aren’t many cameras, but they are there. cash wrap, hall to the bathroom, and one of the clearance corners are the ones i can remember rn from my store.
• i’ve seen a lot of people say to go to the clearance section to lift - i don’t recommend it. we’re trained to service the crap out of people back there because WE KNOW that’s where ya go!
• most athletic shoes are tagged, as well as our high end heels and “prom” shoes
• best way to lift, be the great customer. try on 4 or 5 pairs of shoes. pull the paper out try them on completely. have the boxes spread around you. when there are no other customers in the aisle & no sa’s, slip the pair you want into your bag. then clean everything up and put the boxes back approximately where they should be. if everything is left out, we’re gonna remember that bitch who made a massive mess.
• pro tip: put one of the smokescreen pairs on hold under a fake name. then you look way less suspicious.
• more often than not, if a column of boxes looks tidy, we don’t mess with it. closing is on a tight schedule and the stores are BIG.
• the sa’s aren’t allowed to confront you or accuse you. all we can do is call the police/mall security and try and keep you in the store.
•will add more to this as i’m remembering it
ahhhh finally dsw tips. thank you 😘
So you want to lift from Michaels...
As a (finally) former Replenishment Associate/Sales Associate/Head Cashier of the highest shrink Michael’s Arts & Crafts in our district, here is everything you need to know and probably more:
Our store didn’t even have towers.
If our Instax Mini’s (which are locked up) or film (which are behind little red locks that you can use a magnet on) were source tagged, nothing would beep.
Choose your time of day wisely.
Of course, weekend nights are a lot busier and our store in particular, for whatever reason, was always understaffed. There would be 1 Framer, 1-2 SA, 1 Cashier, 1 MOD. Mid-day always has the most associates.
I recommend the morning: it’s slow, we’re trying to get our own projects done, we’re probably still sleepy.
I do not recommend before closing, as all of the employees are running around the store trying to get shit done so we can go home.
Our Copic markers are at the front in the queue line and our Prismacolor stuff is in our Fine Arts section, both of which are heavily monitored. This brings me to:
Our cameras (that actually record and can be rewound in store) don’t pan around and zoom.
Sections recorded: entrance, front registers, jewelry, fine art, receiving (”the back”/employees only), stickers, cash office.
No one is actively watching the camera monitors. If we’re bored and lazy, we’ll sit and watch, and it’s somehow hypnotizing.
I recommend concealing while walking along the outermost walls of the store, basket aisle, clearance aisle, seasonal, and if you’re ballsy- the classroom.
Don’t go to the bathroom, at least ours is next to the frame shop, aka someone gon’ see you walk in with merch.
We find empty boxes all the time. We don’t ever look more into it.
The empty box goes in receiving to get damaged out and thrown away. Ditch em in the clearance aisles if they’re too bulky.
No designated LP person. I used to joke with customers that I was LP and I don’t feel like tackling you today, but really. In all of the time I was there, we had ONE LP guy come in to creep on us and customers.
I’ve sat in the office and watched a woman rip pegs off the wall, dump a wall of strung beads into her bag, and leave the store in less than 2 minutes. We were more impressed than anything tbh.
We cannot confront you, even if we watched you put it in your bag.
We can only customer service you to death and be mildly passive aggressive.
We won’t chase you down, but the MOD will fill out a report if you were seen on camera.
***If you are caught on camera, a screen cap of you and description of the incident will be emailed to every store in the district.
Park further away y’all.
Our parking lot was shared with four other stores (the “mall” was an outdoor shopping center)
When I first started working there, my manager told me to park within 8 spots from the front because that was the limit of the cameras.
Returns/Exchanges
So you lifted something from a different store and Michaels carries the exact same one…
If you return something without a receipt, we will give you the lowest price the item has been in the past 90 days, in store credit.
We also need a valid driver’s license so the (national) system will track how often you do non-receipted returns.
If you go up to the register with random, high value items in a non-receipted return transaction (like one expensive brush, one expensive tube of paint, and a pair of jewelry pliers all at once), we have to call an MOD.
If your total refund for a non-receipted return purchase is over $100, the system will prompt for a manager override.
Cash and debit receipted return transactions will be refunded as cash. I had a coworker who would keep these receipts from people who wanted them thrown out, do the return himself, and pocket the cash.
If, for whatever reason, you have a fake traveler’s check, try cashing it in here.
Because we do them so infrequently, I had a manager take it for me, and it turned out she took an apparently fake traveler’s check and didn’t even know.
However, pls don’t use counterfeit bills here. If we get too many in X amount of time, the Operations Manager will get fired.
So you actually want to buy something?
Still apprehensive to conceal in your bag? We are supposed to look to make sure you’ve got all of the items out of the buggy, we are supposed to look inside baskets and boxes, and underneath the liner of baskets. Conceal little items underneath your bag, that is sitting in the child seat of the cart.
50% one regular priced item (with exclusions): 400100719008 is the barcode number. You can ask the cashier to type this in, in “item entry.” It will always work, regardless of what coupon is out that week,
Our employee discount is 30% off your purchase, including sale items (with exclusions): 400100451588.
Is the line too long and the framing counter is open? Be really nice and you can check out there.
Pls be nice to the cashier and don’t ask to make eight separate transactions for eight of the same coupon with the same method of payment. While lifting doesn’t directly affect my paycheck, this coupon policy abuse shit does. if the store doesn’t meet projected goals, we get less hours, which means I have less money to put in my gas tank.
Am I missing something? Ask!
Cheers to my first post after creeping the community for a week, but lifting for like 8 years. Be safe shrimps.
amazing
also why does nobody else share employee discount coupon codes, cmon ladies, get your shit together
more info on light/motion sensitivity tags. these tags are starting to pop up on some electronics and on commonly stolen high-ticket items at ulta. i’m currently looking for where a deactivator can be bought
god fuck these things
Ice Cream Haul!! This is why I need to lift clothes. Cuz I need bigger clothes. Cuz of the ice cream hauls! Vicious cycle yo!!
this is honestly the only thing i want in life
this made me so happy you have no idea
This is probably one of the best hauls I’ve ever seen on liftblr.
I wonder if I could make any money lifting clothes and sending them in to thredup.
Yep I’ve done this! It takes forever, but it’s a lot easier IMO than boosting clothes on PM/Merc.
They pay more for stuff that’s new with tags still on, but they do have a policy about accepting suspicious amounts of it. Basically just treat it like an in-person resale store… don’t send them huge amounts of brand-new stuff, especially stuff that’s still in stores.
I mostly do it with stuff I’ve changed my mind about after wearing it a few times. If you really wanted to boost through them, you could just put some of your items through the laundry to make it look “gently used”. Also keep an eye out for designer label stuff at Goodwill 😆
what % of the retail price on average would they give you for things?
It really depends. They consider the type of item, the brand, how “in”/likely to sell it is, and what kind of condition it’s in. Sometimes they reject items too. (You can either pay to ship them back to you or just let the company recycle them.)
For the stuff they do accept, I’ve gotten like 5-15% of full retail for used items and 10-25% for NWT items. It honestly matches up pretty well with what I’d expect to get from selling on Posh, and I don’t have to put up with shipping items one at a time on-demand (and waiting months on end for unpopular items to sell at an inevitable 90% discount).
I guess if you were detagging and washing new stuff to look used, you’d be losing out on more money. I still do boost certain things (bags/wallets, outerwear, lingerie, jeans) on PM so I can get a higher price. But for stuff that’s harder to sell, Thredup is 👌💯
Ah I see. If I used poshmark, I’d probably sell NWT/NWOT stuff for about 40-50% off retail price so I feel like I might make a little more money that way. I’ll look at their website and see how it works, see if I have anything that might be good to sell to them.
You'd list it at those prices but honestly it never sells there. I've never sold anything (outside of those categories I listed) for less than a 70% discount, and the commission knocks my earnings down even further 😧

Much Requested Tips!
I receive a LOT of asks from new lifters/baby lifters and people considering starting to lift and a lot are very similar. I’m really flattered that people look up to me and come to me for advice so thank you guys💞 however, I think it might be convenient to make a big, general post for you guys.
Not all of these tips and strategies are mine! Some I came up with, some I’ve read and seen from other lifters. I am not trying to steal anyone’s credit. No pun intended 😉
Keep reading
which one of you is stealing the fitting room numbers????
wtf lmaoo
this is hilarious
y'all think this is a a joke. when I was managing a dress store I literally sat there and tagged every single fitting room number because people kept taking them and I had to re order them allllllll the time 😂
I can actually think of reason why ppl take them, that way next time they lift from there they can give back a lower number so the SA doesn’t question the number of clothes they leave the room with
