Bubbles of methane trapped in a frozen lake.
This absolutely amazing image shows a rainbow cloud above Mt Everest. The sight is rare and has only ever been photographed a couple of times.

Near the town of Tragöß in Styria, Austria you can find this stunning lake known as Grüner See (Green Lake). Named Green Lake for its amazingly clear emerald green water it’s mostly the result of seasonal snowmelt from the surrounding Hochschwab Mountains and forests.
Fun fact: this is not a single animal. This Portuguese Man O’ War (Physalia physalis) is a colony of animals called a siphonophore.

Philosophical dinosaurs.
Solar Flare Causes Radio Blackout
Solar Flares are big explosions that occur high up in the Sun’s atmosphere, usually over a sunspot. Sunspots are the darker, cooler areas on the Sun’s surface that are caused by a high magnetic increase on the surface. When the magnetic tension over these sunspots gets too high, the magnetic field builds up high in the Sun’s atmosphere and releases particles and energy on every level of the electromagnetic spectrum. When these sunspots are facing Earth’s direction, it can create southern auroras.
