It was such a small detail. A note in the 'wardrobe' section of their mission assignment: 'They'll be expecting you to be a couple. Matching outfits are a must.'
Lowering the case file, Mobius shot a look at Loki, who had been reading it over his shoulder at the same time. A look that was at once guilty and inquiring, drawing up memories of a discussion they'd already had several times over, all of which Loki caught onto as soon as their eyes met. Letting out a quiet sigh of resignation, he smiled slightly and gave a short nod. After nervously returning the smile, Mobius turned his attention to B-15, who had brought them the assignment.
"Just one thing, B," he began, tentative. He pointed out the note that'd caught their attention and tapped it a few times. "This, uh…this note here?"
B-15 looked closer, her ponderous frown clearing when she recognized what he was calling into question. She nodded once, briskly. "About you two being a couple," she affirmed, looking between them, "I didn't anticipate that being a problem."
"No! No, it's not a problem; it's—" Mobius cut the thought short with a soft huff, averting his eyes down to the floor as his face flushed. After a brief moment to recover himself, he took a deep breath, then met B-15's eyes again. "Listen. We have a confession to make."
He glanced again at Loki, who gave him another encouraging nod. "Go on."
Bolstered by his partner's affirmation, Mobius found the courage to continue. "We've…been a couple for about a month now," he admitted to B-15, "So, no: pretending to be a couple on a mission won't be a problem, because we won't have to pretend. We just…" He shrugged. "…wanted to keep it to ourselves for a little while."
B-15 blinked at them, apparently bewildered. "Yeah, no shit you two are a couple," she shot right back, "Did you think you were keeping that to yourselves this whole time??"
Both Mobius and Loki were forced to do a double-take at that.
"What?" Loki demanded loudly. (A little too loudly for the office space, to be completely honest.) Spotting Casey passing on his way to the computer banks at the front of the room, he called to him, "Casey, did you already know Mobius and I were together??"
Stopping in his tracks, Casey stared wide-eyed between him, Mobius, and B-15, and when he saw that, Loki was sure that at least he'd been taken by surprise. But then—
"Was I not supposed to?" Casey stammered in return, sounding as though he was afraid he was in trouble.
Hands on his hips, Loki huffed and tipped his head back in exasperation. "It was supposed to be a secret…"
"That would imply that you two thought you were being discreet," O.B. commented mildly from the computers that Casey had been heading toward before being accosted.
Loki was struck speechless. Apparently, everybody already knew about their relationship status.
"Honestly, it's more amazing to hear that you two have officially been together for only a month," B-15 added in a mutter, really driving the point home.
With a groan, Mobius scrubbed a hand down his face, which was now even redder than it had been before. "So much for the big reveal…"

Day 5 of @lokiusweek: confession
“I have a confession to make.”
At Loki’s words Mobius glances up from the report he has been working on for the last hour and already braces himself for what is to come his way.
Loki looks at him intently and announces, “I love you.”
Mobius narrows his eyes, suspicion creeping up on him.
“What did you do?”
Loki scoffs, affronted. “I just told you –”
“No, no, don’t play this game with me,” Mobius cuts him off. “What did you do? Just tell me before I get a headache guessing …”
Loki scowls for a moment longer.
Then he lets his shoulders sag and confesses, “I might have, accidentally, broken your favorite mug.”
There it is.
Mobius blinks a few times.
For a second there he considers laughing into the god’s face because this is sure as hell far tamer than anything his overactive mind came up with just now, but Loki actually looks so remorseful that the agent doesn’t dare reacting in such a manner. Granted, Mobius liked that mug – a blue, ocean-themed little thing he stole from the timeline on day many eons ago –, but it’s certainly not worth anyone feeling guilty about it. Especially Loki.
So Mobius reaches out, squeezes the god’s hand on the table and says, “It’s fine. Accidents happen.”
Loki tightens the grip. “I’m going to bring it to the timeline and repair it with magic –”
“And I thank you for that,” Mobius quickly interrupts since he can see Loki already losing himself in a frenzy. Sometimes it’s quite wondrous what kind of seemingly meaningless things the god ends up being worked up over. “But once again, it’s fine. It’s just a mug. I appreciate the honesty, though.”
Loki could’ve easily fixed the mug without Mobius ever being the wiser.
The agent calls that progress.
So he smiles softly at Loki and says, “I particularly liked your first confession.”
It’s not news, he and Loki have said those specific words to one another, after many trials and errors, for quite a few months now, all of it getting easier and easier as times flies by. And yet it’s still nice to hear every single time.
Loki grins back at him, his tension dissipating right away. “Yeah?”
“I also have a confession to make,” Mobius admits.
“That you love me too?” Loki guesses.
“Yes, of course, obviously,” Mobius replies and revels at the sight of Loki’s cheeks coloring a little. “But also … this morning I might have, not quite accidentally, put one of your shirts on.”
Loki’s brow raises as he assesses the shirt in question for a moment before a sly smirk flashes over his features.
“My, Mobius, that is quite the serious offense,” he says in amusement. “I’m afraid I might be forced to drag you to our room and get you out of that shirt now.”
Mobius chuckles while his heart leaps a few extra beats. He is still not used to this new, glorious dynamic and he highly doubts he ever will be.
“How about I finish this report, you repair my mug and we’ll meet at our place in half an hour?” Mobius proposes.
Loki just nods before he presses a quick kiss onto Mobius’ lips – just a brief thing because he knows the head archivist would skin him alive if he were to go further than that in her sacred halls – and rushes out of the room.
Mobius watches him go and smiles to himself.
Life certainly ain’t boring anymore.
And he couldn’t be happier about it.

Lokius Week Day 6: A Mobius By Any Other Name

"Late for meetings… Asking too many questions… Possession of illicit timeline objects…" Loki read aloud from the file in his hands while his feet were kicked up on the desk beside where Mobius was hard at work. Shaking his head, he tutted in a teasingly performative way. It was obvious that he wanted attention.
Distracted by work though he was, Mobius tried to give him at least a little of what he wanted. "Sounds like a real troublemaker you've got there," he mumbled while continuing to jot down notes in their mission report.
Unseen by him, an amused grin curled the corners of Loki's lips. He let out a chuckle. "Oh, I should say so." He lifted the file closer to his face to read aloud yet another line. "Absconded unauthorized to Pompeii with a dangerous variant—"
"Whoa whoa whoa, hold on; how'd you get your hands on my file?" Mobius demanded, suddenly very interested in giving Loki as much attention as he wanted. Now sitting up straight, he leaned in closer to his partner to try to get a better look at the file and confirm his suspicions.
Unfortunately for him, Loki had longer arms and held it aloft, far out of his reach. "No no, you're not taking this away from me just yet," he laughed, craning his neck to continue reading the file.
"What're you expecting to find in there that you don't know or that I haven't already told you myself?" Mobius griped, still making swipes to try to grab the file, to no success.
"I'm sure there must be—" Loki started, but then cut himself off when he spotted something in the information listed out on the page. He released an incredulous laugh.
"What now?" Mobius groaned, giving up on taking the file but not bothering to sit back fully in his own chair.
Pulling the file closer, Loki pointed to the 'aliases' section of the personnel report. "You were once known as Mr. Tesseract?" he teased, laughing. He leaned in closer to Mobius so their shoulders brushed, and purred into his ear, "No wonder I've always found that cube completely irresistible."
After that, Mobius would have been shocked if Loki hadn't been able to feel the heat radiating off of his face.

Summary:
Mobius and Loki head to a luxury resort, in order to scope the place out for a mission. Unfortunately, no one told them they'd have to pose as a couple the whole time, and Mobius isn't sure his heart can take it. Will he be able to think fast enough to fool the friendly pair they're trying to get information from, without revealing to Loki his true feelings, or will he break and pour his whole entire heart out?

Lokius Week Day 7: Not That Bad

Whatever was wrong with Loki, whatever had him twisting and distorting and melding into himself and the very air around him, it had to hurt, right? It couldn't be good. It certainly didn't look good. And yet, when asked, what Mobius told him was:
"I guess it doesn't look, y'know…that bad, but we definitely gotta get you some help."
It was a lie, of course; at least, the first part was. One told with good intentions, but a lie all the same. Mobius knew how particular Loki was about appearances, about at least looking like he was in control, even if that couldn't be further from the truth. That seemed to be the case right now, so Mobius felt that the least he could do was reassure Loki, to do everything he could to not hurt his feelings. To help make him feel better about whatever was happening to him.
It took no time at all for Mobius' lie to fall to pieces. Then, it became Loki's turn for reassurances.
"It's okay, it's okay. Look, it's not that bad. I can handle it."
Well. It seemed they both wanted to make the other feel better, no matter how untrue their words were.
