If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.

it's literally so vital that you learn how to riff. how to banter. how to yes, and. your life will depend on it one day.

a related skill, you also need to know how to shoot the shit, pal around, and have yourself a good old fashioned chin-wag. learn how to talk about the most inane bullshit you can think of. an hour isn't wasted if you fill it with aimless talk no matter how much your boss wants you to think it is. it's the core skill behind things like "having friends" and "developing social skills."
