Hi I've been reading make me your empress recently and all I have to say is that I love your work and the way your writing out the conflicts and I wanted to make fanart of the consorts of it on my second blog
and ngl I'm not good at remembering details in how characters are described most of the time in the midst of me being heavily interested in the political plot and drama
so I've been meaning to ask if you could give out like full descriptions of the consorts?
Thank you! Having fanart for the fic would be an honorš„¹š
For the consorts, I did not describe their appearance in detail in the story, but rather general descriptions here or there. Maybe I'll add some inspiration of mine here.
You Yaqin: (from chapter 16) "Upon closer examination, although Yaqin had red hair and green eyes like the Empress Dowager, their features differed. She had thinner eyes that were more lifted at the end and a rounder nose. Her lips were plumper, and her jawline was more prominent, giving her face a square appearance. Yaqin framed her face with hair strands on both sides, probably distracting others from her square jaw." Her features did not resemble Gyokuyou's much, other than eye and hair color, and she looked less delicate or perfect than Gyokuyou, but with a more common outlook. She had earrings that (from chapter 16) "were shaped like a silver feather.Ā Small garnet pieces lined the silver pieces molded into long, curvy attachments." After ascension to high consort, her color was soft orange and received (from chapter 22) "a gold headpiece, shaped like a band of marigolds with two strings of deep red garnet hanging at both ends, complementing her red hair and warm complexion" from the Emperor.
Ryou Liyu: (from chapter 5) "very similar to her cousin, Great Consort Lihua. However, her eyes were rounder and more downturned, giving a softer and more delicate look in contrast to the intense eyes of the Great Consort" and (from chapter 11) "like her cousin Lady Lihua, was dressed in a light blue gown similar to blue hydrangea. Wearing her hair half-down, her resemblance to her cousin was uncanny, except for her rounder eyes that gave off a poor puppy vibe." I imagine her looking similar to Lihua but softer. After being promoted as the high consort, her color was blue, and received (from chapter 22) "a silver headpiece with a sapphire in the center and numerous pear tree blossoms surrounding it. Each pear tree blossom had clear, translucent crystals as its anthers" from the Emperor.
Tei Yiting: (from chapter 5) "Both had long almond eyes, similar to Fengxianās, plump little lips, oval faces, and pointy chins. True to their names, the pair exuded beauty that society adored." I imagine she and Yili looked like women depicted in ancient Chinese paintings with thin eyebrows, classic black eyes, and hair. Her color was pale pink, and she received (from chapter 22) "a silver headpiece, but it was designed to be worn on the side with small diamonds hanging on one side, mimicking the drooping branches and leaves of a willow tree. The white diamonds served as a wonderful contrast to Yitingās raven and shiny hair."
Kyou Chuoyu: (from chapter 5) "Although her facial features were not as impressive as the twins, her physique could rival Yaoās. Maomao bet her physique might rival the three princesses at the Verdigris House when she grew older." She was gifted with larger breasts, and I did not think much about her face... š«£
Han Dancheng: (from chapter 5) "Her hair carried a subtle red hue, earning her name, with quite a nervous expression." Again, other than the hair color, I did not write much about her outlook. Probably more confidnece after some time in the society and befriended Chuoyu.
Shin Jingmu: (from chapter 5) "the lady had a beauty unconventional to the Li: square face with round eyes. She looked at Maomao with a polite yet distanced smile." In my mind, she had more masculine features (among asians), like high cheekbones, chiseled cheeks, and defined, sharp, arched brows. Probably darker hair and eyes, too.
That's what I have! Feel free to create what is left to be imagined, and please tag me when you uploadš
