Bespoke Bride
I'm feeling a little shoe obsessed tonight...
To. Die. For.
Vera Wang Lavender "Luna" shoe. Photo: Loren Ioppolo.
Loved the "I Do!" on our bride Julie's Jimmy Choo's.
I love this photo of our bride Kim from 2009 and I have to giggle because I see it at least once a day on Pinterest and Tumblr! It was taken by the super talented Paul Johnson Photography. If you want to see more of this wedding, check out the little highlight film we did for Kim + Chris.
17 tier wedding cake from the wedding we filmed last weekend. Cake anyone?
{the backstory}
So this post is a little different. It's very personal because it's for my cousin Laura. We're not a big family, but we're close, so when my aunt and uncle let us know that their oldest daughter was going to be marrying the love of her life, David, we didn't hesitate to offer to film the wedding. I always get soppy at weddings. Father/daughter and mother/son dances inevitably make me cry. I get caught up in the joy of our couples, their family and friends. I'll even sniffle my way through the editing if there's something particularly heartfelt. What I wasn't prepared for while putting together this sneak peek is just how hard it would be to cut anything I thought sounded great or looked like a brilliant shot (and in my world a brilliant shot is filled with emotion, not just beautiful composition)! This trailer is nearly four minutes long, which in terms of a sneak peek is looooooong, but that's as short as I could make it without making myself crazy.
Laura + David's first dance was to the "The Book of Love" by the Magnetic Fields. I very nearly used it for their trailer because at several points during the speeches and interviews, family and friends talked about how Laura loves that David reads aloud to her. They also met while they both worked for a publishing company, so even though the song didn't make the cut for the trailer, it's going to feature heavily in their final film! Our family has reels and reels of old film which we've converted to DVD. One of our favorite family pastimes was to watch old home movies on an ancient Bell and Howell projector my Grandmother would set up in the living room. On Laura + David's wedding day, I juggled a Canon 7D, several lenses and couple of Super 8mm cameras so that Laura could continue that family tradition of having her big day recorded on film.
I asked Missy + Lorin at the end of the night if they were having as much fun as it looked like they were having on their wedding day and they said in unison "MORE!"
So happy to see Becca + Matt's wedding featured again. This time it's on Once Wed.
We love it when couples write their own vows. For some reason Tori + Adam's pastor forgot to ask them to say their vows during their ceremony, so they decided to go ahead and read them to each other at the reception. There wasn't a dry eye in the place when they were finished :)
