Lana came out as a woman after Speed Racer in 2008, and Lily eight years later after the release of Jupiter Ascending (2016), so if you see original home copies of the Matrix (pre-2008), they are referred to as the Wachowski Brothers on it. It was a branding thing, like the Coen Brothers. That’s how they were called, because they were still presenting as male to the industry and the industry sold them as a creative unit.

I remember after Lana came out, the boxes switched to calling them just The Wachowskis, so I imagine now it’s the Wachowski Sisters.

So, yes, they’ve always been sisters, but if you didn’t know that, it’s not your fault. It’s been a long process and I’m glad they did it on their terms in their time.

Before Lily came out but after Lana did they were often credited as The Wachowskis siblings. So some places may still refer to them as such.

I was actually unaware that Lily was also trans so thank you for that info!

The coolest thing about Amy & Hope is that even though they’re ostensibly “the shy one” and “the cool one,” they’re also the reverse… which Hope recognizes, but Amy doesn’t, so she really does know the real Amy.

1. It’s a total reversal of the trope where the hot girl hooks up with the geeky guy because she wants to have the upper hand.

2. Hope clearly had a crush on Amy for a while and was painfully aware that Amy was oblivious, hence the bullying. She wanted to get Amy to notice her but also resented Amy for not noticing her.

3. Despite dragging Amy for crying in a bathroom at a party, Hope is the one who locked herself in a bathroom at a party in the first place.

4. She calls Amy “meek” because she’s insecure about her own “meekness” in not being able to admit her feelings to Amy or make a move. And maybe she’s even jealous of Amy being “out” since she herself may not be.

5. Amy initiates their first and second kisses and hook-up. Hope is surprised by her boldness but also relieved and grateful.

6. Hope immediately melts once she realizes Amy reciprocates her feelings and is incredibly reassuring of Amy and clearly just as nervous herself.

7. Despite it seemingly ending in disaster, Hope gathers up Amy’s clothes (immediately after washing off Amy’s vomit), so she has a pretense to see Amy again because she’s too nervous to show up to Amy’s house for no other reason than to give Amy her number, and she immediately walks away after Amy takes her number because she’s too nervous to linger on her reaction.

8. Hope lets her guard down and admits she had a good time (“you kinda know what you’re doing”) because she wants Amy to know how she sees her, and she wants Amy to see herself that way too.
