Divided Skies is delighted to announce that we are officially opening for our seventh wave of applications!

"Nineteen moons ago, tensions reached a peak in the mountain StormClan, causing a schism to break the bustling Clan in two, while enemies and allies alike bore witness. Those defectors settled in the moors with the name of DawnClan, seeking peace with the forest BriarClan and marshland MistClan. Time and time again since, tragedy has struck in all four Clans of the territory: disease, disaster, and death abound. With new leaders in power, and new threats rising faster by the day, a time of great change has come. The morning has only just begun."

We are an 18+ semi-literate Warriors roleplay hosted on Discord. As such, you must have a Discord account and be 18 years or older to apply. We ask that you only send in one submission to the form. This opening will run from August 1st to August 15th, after which invitations will be sent out to all successful applicants.

This opening will be focusing on original character pitches, however, if you prefer finding a character with pre-established ties, please feel free to browse our adoptables document for all available characters and open connections!

Please make sure to check out our lore before applying! All of our documents can be found in our Table of Contents; we heavily suggest consulting our Clan Ledger first, to get an idea of the main factions. If you have any questions, send us an ask, and we'll back to you as soon as possible!

Will your paws lead you to community, or to superstition? Are you led by honor, or by hope? Does your heart lie beyond the Clans, no rules beyond your own? Or will you be in the skies themselves, maybe shrouded in the dark?

If we wanted to apply with a character that would start out as non-clan but we intend for them to join a specific clan through rp, would we fill them out on the application as a non-clan cat or for the clan we intend for them to join later?

Either works, so long as you clarify your intention! We'll make sure both organizers for the factions involved can take a look at it when it comes in.

Two friends spend time together in the dead of leafbare. Set a few moons ago, Somberwhisper and Fluffyswan had yet to recieve their full names and were still the rogue prisoners Grimm and Cygnus. Awaiting trial for the crimes of their past group was tense and worrysome, but that didn't mean every day had to be bleak. There's still joy to be found in each other's company!

I just want to say the overhauls on the clan ledger were so fun to read through! I’ve been following this roleplay for about a year now and the clans, especially Mistclan, are so well thought out and given so much care. The love just shines through the pages.

I can see how much people love this and I’m excited for the next wave opening in August!

As the clan organizer for MistClan, I really tried my best to really get in the nitty gritty! Religious beliefs and superstitions are complex and interconnected with each other. The rest of the team can attest, my planning board was a complex (but organized!) web connecting everything to each other.

I also really wanted to make the clan more nuanced. Superstition and religion aren't always bad things. Sometimes they come from real scientific phenomena. Sometimes they're a bit silly and harmless. Are there still harmful ones? Yes, of course. But I wanted to give players the opportunity to have a superstitious cat without feeling constrained to one frame of thinking.

I know I speak for the whole mod team when I say that a lot of these lore rewrites were done out of sheer love for the server. Every organizer is genuinely so passionate about their clan in their own way, and I'm absolutely over the moon that even someone outside of our server can feel that passion!

We are extremely excited to announce that applications to join the roleplay will reopen on August 1st, and will close two weeks later on August 15th (assuming there are no extensions.) This will be our seventh wave of new members, and will be focused on original character pitches! There will be a word minimum of 300 for the writing sample, and a new age minimum of 18 years old for all applicants.

Feel free to peruse our updated lore documents (especially our Clan Ledger) and cook up some ideas in the countdown to the opening. While you will not be required to select an adoptable character or connection this time around, the document will still be made available for those interested in seeing what roles we'd like filled. Again, if you have any questions or comments about our new lore, how the server is run, the upcoming opening, etc. then send us an ask; we've got a whole team eagerly waiting in the wings to answer!

In the meantime, we hope all artists out there have a happy rest of their Art Fight! If you post a drawing of any character from this roleplay (listed here) and tag us, we'll gladly reblog it. See you all on August 1st :)

Do ya’ll do partnerships with other rps?

Not currently; our server is closed outside of application periods, so we're not too sure how a roleplay partnership would function with that in mind! We're open to discussing alternatives, but there's nothing in the works at the moment.

On this day, two years ago, Divided Skies officially started roleplaying by kicking off a Full Moon Gathering just a quarter moon after DawnClan splintered off from StormClan.

So much has changed since then. We've welcomed a bunch of new friends into what started out as a relatively small server and made so many interesting characters together. Plotpoints that seemed so far in the future finally came to fruition, paving the way for new ones. Exciting and unforgettable seasonal events that get the whole server buzzing!

That's not to say it's been easy. Like rolling hills, we have had our ups and we've had our downs. But, hiatuses and slower months are a natural part of the creative process, a time to rest and let things breathe both in-character and out-of-character. We've also had to say goodbye to some of our friends, wishing them well on all their future creative endeavors.

So, to all Divided Skies members, past and present, hiatus or active, from the bottom of our hearts here at the mod team: thank you for two incredible years, and here's to even more! You and your characters are the lifeblood of this story. We, quite literally, couldn't have done it without you.

Additionally, we want to thank you Tumblr (yes, you!) for getting this blog to 500 followers! It's truly an honor to have so many people interested in our roleplay. To show our appreciation, we have set up an account on Archive of Our Own! Not only will we be posting legends, the founding prequel we are working on rewriting, and other historical events here, but current players can also gift this account with adapted versions of their favorite roleplaying threads! We have several collections ready for organizational purposes so that you can follow your favorite faction.

With July coming up, we also wanted to let you know that we have a tag on Artfight! It's the same as our Tumblr tag ("divided skies")! We hope to see many of you on the battlefield o7

Hey everyone! Apologies for our relative silence; the roleplay has undergone a change in leadership and as a result, the blog has too! We'll get to answering asks as a team shortly. In the meantime, we encourage all of you to review our updated lore docs: large swathes were overhauled near-completely, and quite a few shiny additions have been made! If you don't know where to start, try the Clan Ledger- each Clan's full information is available there, including updated name systems, cultural beliefs, ranks, and more! Expect to see further updates to the lore in the future (including a rewrite of the founding mythology.) A majority of the docs were also recently restyled to be more dyslexia friendly! We're here to answer any questions you might have about the updated worldbuilding- and don't worry, we'll try our best to answer asks more regularly from here on out. :) Furthermore, we're excited to announce our tentative goal for an opening in/around this August! This opening will allow for OCs to be submitted, rather than strictly centering on our predetermined list of adoptables. If you'd still like to peruse our selection, it will be available as an option, though you will not be limited to it! As a final note, we'd like to mention that the roleplay is now set in the Pacific Northwest, specifically the Washington-Oregon area. Additionally, from this point onward, we will only be accepting applicants aged 18 years or older. For those curious, we currently stand at 38 active roleplayers!
