@divineschosen-blog
i think today was the day where i just completely made evelyn really angsty t bh.
“I know of the Great Game. In Ferelden, there’s a running joke that it’s simply what the Orlesians use to refer to the habit of sticking their heads so far up their asses they see murders in games of chess.” She clicks her tongue and chuckles, letting herself enjoy making a joke. It may be a bit much to keep talking about how things were in Ferelden, but she’s been more than a little homesick, and it’s always entertaining to poke fun at the Orlesians. “I’m not quite looking forward to that ball, either. But I believe Josephine would have a fit if you didn’t go, Evelyn.” She places her hands in her lap again, resting her staff against the stone at her side. The white stone atop it glows, just softly. “As is, I wouldn’t touch anything that you don’t know what it is. I’ve heard good thing about Orlesian wines… but terrible things about Orlesian ham.”
Hawke adjusts how she’s sitting, her smile still present, though it fades slightly as she thinks on Evelyn’s words. There are plenty of wounds in Kirkwall she had been unable to heal; though she had never been a healer at heart, she had learned, and the result had been seeing too many wounds. Her eyes flicker to the woman’s daggers for just a moment, thinking of her own, abandoned somewhere on the road when the templars had caught up with her. “You’re right.” She responds. “Healing is particular, though. There are plenty of ways to kill a man, Evelyn, and too many of them involve festering wounds.” She shrugs, just once, then gives a slow breath as her smile gradually returns. “I’ll do my best if you ever break your leg out here, but I’d recommend making sure the camp has proper healers if you intend to do anything like that.”
The Inquisitor’s words have her feeling slightly surprised. She’s not wrong in Corypheus’ intentions, but Hawke is more than a little bit surprised to hear Evelyn’s last sentence. It’s hilarious that I’m the one they chose to hope in. It strikes a nerve, and Hawke utters a breathy sigh, absentmindedly running her fingers over the brand on her forehead before they run through her hair. “They believe in you because of what they’ve seen. You walked out of the Fade, carrying the mark of Andraste.” Here she pauses. She’s not certain what she believes, honestly. Her faith in the Maker, in Andraste, has been more than shaken since her time in Val Royeaux. But who but the Maker could bring about such a hero? “And since then, you’ve ended the war between the mages and templars. You saved hundreds of lives at Haven. Whether it was the Maker’s hand or not, seeing you persevere gives them hope. People can live without plenty of things, but people can’t live without hope.”
❛ that ..... sounds scarily accurate. at least from my experience with the game itself. the trevelyan’s, well ----- they’re a NOBLE HOUSE. noble enough that i got to play the game a bit too much for my liking. ❜ and that’s all she let’s on about her family. at least, in concerning her parents. evelyn has made comments about them here and there with her time in the inquisition ( josephine’s certainly aware ), and it’s enough to connect the dots, but she still won’t talk about them in a FULL EXTENT. not quite yet. ❛ yes, i believe she would use that sword i was given as inquisitor for good use. i think it’s best if i don’t get on her bad side. ❜ it’s not like the antivan doesn’t have a bad side. she does; and evelyn has seen it in person, at the war table. she’s just glad it’s not aimed at her most of the time. her head cants towards hawke, letting out a small hum. ❛ well, it takes a great lot for me to trust someone, and i take the same procedures towards any food that could be used to kill me. ❜
a brow perks up in the other woman’s directions at hearing ‘ you’re right ‘. it’s not a statement she’s used to hearing, even if some in the inquisition have praised her decisions. it’s more often then not that she’s dealt with the harsh words of ‘ you’re wrong. always wrong ‘. it’s a statement she had heard often from her parents and had heard a few times while being with the inquisition. and quite honestly, it was the latter statement that she had grown accustomed to. it was being right that made her heart miss a beat, even if someone like hawke just meant it as a passing statement. ❛ you’re talking to the INQUISITOR. i can’t count how many men or woman i’ve killed. ❜ it’s the fact that she can say that with a small smile that frightens her. what makes her so different than the other’s that have killed? she thinks no one must blink an eye because she kills for a good cause. ❛ i’ll let my advisers know of your advice. ---- it’s good advice. ❜
her gaze then shifts down to her lap, the pads on her fingers dancing along her thighs. it’s true ----- she does think it’s laughable that they hope in her. a broken child that had wanted to run away from everything initially. she knew they hung her up like the MOON and it almost makes her ask them if they truly know who she is. evelyn is not ANDRASTE’S CHOSEN. and she’s still bewildered that they chose her as the inquisitor. a small scoff leaves her lips when she hears hawke speak to her with such kind words, words that carry truth. yet, she still views herself as someone who’s incapable of bringing hope. ❛ everything’s that happened has only happened because of sheer luck or because i’m not a heartless person that wants to watch the entire world rot. i’m not andraste’s chosen and the maker certainly didn’t help me with anything. i guess i preserve because ----- i know how too. life’s taught me i had to. ❜
“ i’ve said nothing of the sort, inquisitor. the events at theirinfall redoubt were trying, and i’ve no doubt that they took more of a toll on you than they did anyone else, circumstances considered. even so — “
even so, disbanding the order so as to have those that remained faithful to their cause serve the inquisition seemed a poor choice, in comparison to the alternatives. they could very well have worked alongside the inquisitor as free allies, under the templar banner; the structure and guidelines of an organization that was familiar to them would have given them not only a name to cry out on the battlefield, but something of a comfort, something to turn to when all else would seem to be too chaotic, or lost altogether. it was gone now, though – replaced by servitude to the inquisition, a noble cause in itself, make no mistake, but not the cause they’d set out to serve. as a unit, the templars could have been a powerful ally. but after taking away the the order, after stripping them of their titles and ranks, what remained?
(what did the lion become, when you took it from the wild, and put it in- to a CAGE?) his lips press together tightly. he casts his gaze aside. he feels strongly about the decision that was made, but he would do well to keep in his place.
” … it’s already been done. there’s little point in arguing over it now. “
❛ you didn’t have to say anything. i saw the look on your face at the news of my decision. it’s the same look more than half of haven shares. ... but even if everyone must disapprove, i’m not sorry. and i won’t change my decision, even after thinking it through. it’s just -----
the envy demon had taken a toll of her. she could feel it now, like it was a weight settling on her shoulders. and despite the cool demeanor she had forced herself to put on back at theirinfall redoubt and back at haven, it had not stopped her from the slight PANIC at the sight of her advisers. she still remembered vividly of how the demon had taken their forms, mocking her and leaving her shaken even now. ( she hates it, the stir of emotions in her and threatening to spill out in all of haven. she usually kept it all together, not letting her walls break down, but that damned demon .... ). even with the comforting thought that COLE was in haven and the spirit ( ? ) could help her, as he had helped her in that dimension that envy demon had created ------ it still wasn’t enough to stop the doubt spreading within her. evelyn had to forcefully tell herself that while she didn’t do what everyone wanted, she did what was needed to be done. and that had to be enough.
the blonde sucked in her breath, teeth scraping at the inside of her cheek. a hand presses to her forehead and curls against the DISARRAY of hair that she still hasn’t fixed, thoughts running around her head. however, she sets her jaw as she hears his words and see’s that he’s not even looking at her, fingers almost curling into a fist.
❛ ------ if that’s what you choose, then fine.
it makes sense, she guesses even though she doesn’t approve any more than she did before. it isn’t her choice to make anyway. she’s not the inquisitor. looking up to evelyn, she offers a swift smile before looking back down. for a moment, she stays silent. perhaps she should change. afterall the world is changing and it needs more positive people, more thought out plans. but morgana is impulsive and if you ask around, she certainly isn’t nice. who knows? maybe this was all a huge mistake on her part. maybe she shouldn’t have come here. what use is she anyway? what has she done to help? with a quiet sigh, she straightens up.
‘ at least you’re trying. you do what nobody else wants to do or COULD do, you work hard and even go against yourself to get the best results out of this. you’re doing a better job at being noble than most actual nobles. ‘ —— including me, she thinks.
the plan to take down corypheus, at any cost, was still on the forefront on her thoughts. and while they slowly grew closer to achieving that goal everyday, her hatred for him and determination to see him FALL only grew more intense. while evelyn had told herself in the beginning that her only goal was to close the breach and then leave the inquisition behind, never to look back ----- the blunt truth was that haven had been a STABLE HOME for her. despite the ‘ herald of andraste ‘ title being thrown around ( she still hates it ), the people had looked up to her, had cheered when she closed the breach. haven had made her feel like she belonged. and HE had destroyed that.
❛ i’m the only person who can do most of this. i know i might not come off as WARM-HEARTED, but i wouldn’t just leave the inquisition to fend for itself. ------ and here i thought i’ve heard the kindest thing anyone could say about me. thank you. it’s nice to hear that. ❜
( @aespar. )
❛ i’m not here to do any harm, so if you could quit staring at me like i’ll suddenly try something --- that’d be FANTASTIC. ❜ her eyes slightly narrow, arms moving to cross over her chest. even if she were to do anything drastic, she has a slight suspicion that she wouldn’t make it far.
‘Never said you were FUN-LESS. Most people just don’t like pranks, too childish apparently and I just –’ She sticks her tongue out, she didn’t care what they thought. ‘Who knows, maybe you’re some prank master. Tell me, who would be on your LIST?’
❛ well, i can’t worry about corypheus all the time, now can i? pranks can be quite fun. and after all, i can’t be another noble with a stick up her arse. ❜ she says the last bit with a small grin, looking particularly amused. ❛ i wouldn’t go THAT far. hmm, well ---- that’s like asking me who i’d be less scared of pissing off. ❜
You do care. You care so much it’s eating you away. You hate the fact that you care so much but it’s the only thing you know how to do but you constantly lie to yourself just so you can get through the day.

Rebekah Mikaelson in Beautiful Mistake One character per episode // The Originals season 3
lays down a starter call.
❛ be. nice. ❜ she says p o i n t e d l y , narrowing her eyes slightly to her friend who sat across from her at the table. ❛ i swear, he’s the best. you’ll l o v e him if you give him a chance, okay? maybe you’ll be in luck and he’ll even adopt you, ❜ peyton says as she gets up, walking over to the counter. she pushes herself up to the t i p s of her toes to reach for her jar of coffee grounds before d r o p p i n g back onto her feet. she taps the home button on her phone to check the time before beginning to make a pot of coffee for her guests. her dad should be there any minute, and she knew better than anyone that he was never friendlier than when he had a cup of c o f f e e in his hands can you guess where her coffee addiction stemmed from ?
⤷ @divineschosen liked for a starter.
lips purse together and she arches a brow as if to say ‘ who me? ‘. ❛ i am ----- nice. ❜ she says half-heartedly, swiping a tongue over her rows of teeth. ❛ look, you know that i haven’t had the best experience with PARENTS. so don’t blame me if i don’t start jumping up and down. besides, i think i’m the last person any parent wants to adopt. ❜ evelyn huffs out a breath, wringing out her hands as her ponytail BOUNCES slightly at the slight jitter in her body. peyton had told the blonde of how amazing her father was and while she didn’t think she was lying of all things, it didn’t mean that her brain wasn’t thinking of a bunch of terrible thing’s that could happen. ( thanks mom, dad. )
Sympathetic was not exactly the word, it was more like, ‘Good try, buddy’. At least the blonde DID in fact laugh, despite the joke being as corny as corny gets; and everyone knows how Sera is corny. ‘That you should. Who knows, maybe you’re better at pranks.’
she appreciates the gesture, either way. however, there is one thing she knows for sure and that is she’ll make less of an effort to make jokes. unless she suddenly becomes FABULOUS at telling them. ❛ thanks. you know, i’m not entirely FUN-LESS. i think i can carry out a prank or two. ❜
