❝Yes, everything is fine.❞ And yet given his previous behavior that hasn’t entirely faded, this doesn’t quite ring true. But he won’t elaborate. He’s not going to bring another problem into the mix now. He won’t ruin what he’s finally got back, at least for now; a parent. ❝Must something be wrong for me to come see you?❞ A familiar smirk accompanies the words though quickly fades back to a regular smile. ❝I was not certain if you were awake,❞ He doesn’t mean asleep for the night, but that’s probably obvious. ❝but if so the plan was simply to spend time with you if you were willing.❞ A glance away, hesitation for but seconds before, ❝You may call me childish if you wish but I do not think anyone ever outgrows the desire for family.❞ On that note he really should stop procrastinating and speak with Palkia as well soon…
A shift in his seat, a gesture to the door. ❝I have an itinerary we can use if you care. I was not certain when or if this opportunity would come again.❞ And yet when crimson eyes follow his gesture to the exit it hits him, leaving will retrace the way he came. And there goes some of the life in his eyes once more. An awkward pause as he seems to freeze for several seconds before lowering his arm and looking away, choosing Arceus instead. Perhaps he can simply go from here to the Tower and then back to the mortal plane elsewhere? Cut out that wretched mountain? That might work. Best change things up, don’t make the issue obvious.❝What were you doing if you were not busy or sleeping?❞
His lips pursed, and Arceus shifted weight from one foot to the other. “No, nothing has to be wrong, but...” he stops himself. But what? He shakes his head, continuing on to the next topic. “I’d not call you childish for wanting to spend time with family. I just assume you and your brothers don’t need me or want to be around me unless you needed something, or if something was wrong.”
At the mention of an itinerary, he crosses his arms as his face falls into a frown, shifting to lean against the counter. That sounded... oddly professional? Impersonal. It didn’t sound like spending time, it sounded like a business proposal. Like he was going to be taken on a whirlwind tour of a probable investment and then asked to sign on the dotted line. But nonetheless, he’s curious. “I was just watching TV, nothing fancy. Taking a relaxed break day. I haven’t slept in centuries, Dialga. It’ll probably be a while before that happens again.”
The change in Dialga’s stature, the loss of the happiness in his gaze, none of it goes unnoticed. It aches in his heart that he can’t pin down what it is that troubles his son so. He wants to sit down, talk things out, but knows his son wouldn’t want to talk. He’d want to distract, to forget, to ignore the problem. But that’s not how you make problems go away.
Shifting to stop leaning on the counter, Arceus was about to approach Dialga when the front door opened once again. More visitors? My, how popular he is today! In walks what appears to be a mortal girl, somewhere in her 20′s, white hair reaching floor length and red eyes bright. “I’m hoooome!” she calls with a giggle, and walks right up to Arceus, throwing her arms around him in a tight squeeze, which he readily returns.
“Welcome home, little one,” Arceus greets, ruffling her hair and earning himself a dissatisfied huff from her in the process. “Go unpack your stuff, we’ll talk later tonight.” With the snap of his fingers, a third door materializes at the end of the hallway, conjured up from who knows where. She briefly regards Dialga with a thin smile, look to Arceus with raised eyebrows, and then walks off to the third room, presumably hers, closing the door behind her.
Oh boy. Arceus has a feeling he has some explaining to do.
