š -- in 1958 a little wizard baby was born was into a muggle family during the first republic of south korea. he started showing signs of his powers as an infant and was dropped off at an orphanage by an anonymous woman who was absolutely horrified by him.Ā
š -- it was resolved by the cautious staff to push the burden of having to manage aĀ dokkaebi, as the note pinned to him describedĀ him as being, into the inter-country adoption program with hundreds of other orphans, the majority being displaced from the korean war.Ā
š -- he ended up being sent to manchester in the uk quickly, because in 1959, the unnamed baby - temporarily called ākim jinhoā by the intakers at the adoption facility - was adopted by muggle couple derek and evelyn cresswell, who gave him their name.

š -- most of his magical outbursts up until dirk began primary school were written off by the cresswells as beingĀ āin their imaginationā and were dismissed until he started showing off at school when he realized he could make footballs float if he concentrated hard enough. it was around that time the family were paid a visit from dumbledore, and thankfully his parents were supportive as the news was well received.
š -- he has a good relationship with his parents and doesnāt think of them as anything more or anything less than mum and dad. heās proud of his family even if heās always felt slightly out of place, not just because he looks different but because he felt different from the magic inside of him too.Ā

š -- brief hat stall - the hat wasnāt sure if he should be sorted into slytherin or hufflepuff, ultimately decided on hufflepuff since even the hat knows slytherin wouldnāt have been a good social fit for a muggleborn at the time no matter how ambitious he seemed.Ā
š -- he was so so so excited about hogwarts until he actually got there, and had he been sorted into slytherin he probably would have dropped out. for his first year he was miserable - he was gently warned by dumbledore that being what they call aĀ āmuggle-bornā trying to assimilate into an established magical society comes with a lot of challenges andĀ he realized quickly he wasnāt prepared for them. at all. he was instantly targeted by some of the crueler elitist students right away - letās censor the really terrible slurs they called him and focus on the one personal insult that stuckĀ : goblin boy.
š -- his ears are pretty big - bigger than average anyway - and as rotten kids tend to do, they notice and exploit.Ā ābig like a goblinās, innit muddyĀ goblin boy??ā -- hexes being hurled at them to make them even bigger has landed him in hospital for a reversal on a few occasions.
š -- he had no ideaĀ a goblins were actually creatures that existed until binns began to cover the wars during history of magic. he felt an instant connection to them, like they would understand him and he would understand them - a connection he never felt with anyone or anything else before - and suddenly being called goblin boy was actually not that terrible. heās hollowed out a corner in this magical world to try and belong in and dedicate himself to and having a purpose and passion sure does beat askingĀ āwhy am i here and what am i supposed to be doing?ā every morning when he wakes up.
š -- he immersed himself in learning everything about goblin culture and absorbed the information like a sponge. he taught himself gobbledygook and was fluent by year three.Ā as of year 7, he can speak almost every regional dialect of the language worldwide, which is impressive even within goblin society. heās penpals with a goblin girl in the united states, a goblin boy in norway, and an older goblin woman in japan. not every goblin heās met has embraced him but most have since he speaks the language well and respects the culture so much they canāt not take him seriously.
š -- his dream career is to head the goblin liaison office in the ministry, but heās not naive enough to think thatāll happen easily with his status. he and his peers are still treated by a fairly big portion of the student body and a few members of staff as second class and he feels like he needs to do anything he can to get ahead. and he will.
š -- flirts with all of his professors, with prefects, with heads, with filch, with peeves, and especially with slughorn who he sees as being the fastest way to get into the ministry. he knows his looks are disarmingly soft, that as heās grown into himself heās become attractive and since he has a baby face he can pout or bat his eyes and people usually give him his way. heās in the slug club and heās very involved, always taking initiative to organize parties and allowing himself to be trapped in conversation for hours with slughorn just for that sweet recommendation letter. š -- likes to push peopleās buttons because he thinks itās funny to watch them get angry, and naively believes nothing bad can ever happen even if he pushes those buttons too hard. he doesnāt know when to stop and turn around.
š -- falls in love easily, with anyone, and has been in love at least ten times over the course of his school career. most of the times with his friends/penpals. he can be a really big glutton for attention and affection. has only slept with one person and still has lingering feelings for them ( hit me up if you want to be that person, open to anyone! )
š -- extremely independent but can still be needy when he gets lonely, homesick, or feels out of place.
š -- big emotional guard, doesnāt let himself cry.
š -- his voice is way deeper than people expect it to be when they first meet him.
š -- never got a detention in his life! not even mcgonagall can resist his kicked puppy face, though he knows he needs to use that card sparingly with her.
š -- hates sweets, loves spicy food, always eating!Ā
š -- stubborn to a fault
š -- casual quidditch player who has always been too intimidated to properly try out for the team, even if heās been encouraged to. better at football anyway! likes to run and a muggle mate got him into lifting weights over summer holiday.
š -- generally easy to get along with - people opposed to him attending class with them often forget theyāre not supposed to like him.
š -- has a decent amount of friends and admirers but is not popular.Ā
š -- lovesĀ translating gobbledygook song lyrics into english and english lyrics into gobbledygook. a hyperpolyglot, heās insanely gifted at picking up languages in general and always has been. as he learned different gobbledygook dialects he has also picked up phrases from the human languages of the regions they hail from.Ā
š -- enjoys listening to music from all over the world - muggle, wix or goblin.
