@liulyam Happy New Year! I apologize for my DMC exchange piece being so late but a lot of stuff has come up that’s slowing down my progress. I didn’t want to leave you hanging indefinitely so here’s a wip of my gift for you! I’ll be working on the colors over the next week – I’d hoped to have it done sooner but I had impromptu eye surgery yesterday and rn my vision is blurred enough to make detailed drawing really difficult. I hope this preview will sate you for a while :D

A Snowy Night In

Dante×reader one shot for @bird-bro

Merry @dmcsecretsanta christmas! A little bit of soft comforting Dante for you :D

*Knock knock knock.* A noise startles you out of your nicotine induced stupor. *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* There it is again! Fine. You'll go see what's up. Looking through the peephole, you see a scruffy mop of white hair and a snow covered red coat waiting at your doorstep. You roll your eyes and let out a sigh as you open the door. Snow blasts into your house and catches you off guard, making you stumble back. 

"What the hell are you doing here, Dante? It's below freezing. And there's a blizzard raging outside right now. Get in here before I have to shovel inside of my house too." You wipe the now melted snowflakes away from your face and usher him inside. 

"Why would I pay for heat in my place when I can just come over here and leech off of you instead?" He grins and tries to hug you but fails as you quickly dodge and saunter back to the couch. 

"Don't track snow all over my house. Leave your boots on the rug. You know where the towels are, dry yourself off before you sit down." You don't want to deal with Dante right now, waving him off and curling back up with the blanket you abandoned to let him in. He soon comes back in some pajama pants and a towel over his head. He flops on the couch next to you and makes himself right at home. "Dante." You mumble.

"Yes, love?" He says sweetly.

"Why are you here? I know you don't get cold. You're half demon after all." 

He pauses, and looks over at you. "I know you haven't been doing well during this pandemic. You're lonely. Why wouldn't I come visit you when you're snowed in?" Dante pulls you into his grasp, you cross your arms and pout.

"I would have been fine on my own." 

"Now you sound like Vergil, sweetie. That's gotta change." Dante picks you up and throws you over his shoulder. You whine in protest as he carries you to the kitchen and sets you on the counter. "I know you've got some hot chocolate around here somewhere. He pulls two mugs out of the cupboard, and eventually finds the cocoa mix. It's quite amusing watching him try to make some simple cocoa. He reads the back of the box intently, and fills up the mugs with almost the right amount of milk. You open the microwave and watch him place the two cups on the glass plate and shut the door. "Two minutes? Does that sound right?" You nod and he enters the time. Two minutes seems like forever when you don't say anything. Once the microwave goes off, he finishes making the cocoa, and gives you a mug. "Cheers, babe."

"Cheers, Dante." You take a sip and judge his hot chocolate making skills. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. You set the mug down and reach your arms out for him. He understands and wraps his arms around you. "Thank you, Dante. I needed this." 

"Let's go back to the couch, darling." He lets you pick up both mugs, and then he carefully picks you back up, and walks back to the living room. "Ready to watch trash tv until we pass out?" He grins and kisses you on the cheek. 

You smile back at him. "That was my plan before you got here." You flip the channel to a late night sitcom or cartoon and blankly watch the bad entertainment. Now gently resting in his arms, your eyes droop closed and your body relaxes. Dante brushes the hair out of your face and plants a quick kiss to your lips. "Love you." He whispers.

"Love you too, Dante."
