The fact that you can tell Dante is disassociating when Nico is speaking to him once he heard her last name is so painful. In any other situation, he would've been delighted by her enthusiasm! But he's just staring at her, slowly lifting his hand for a handshake like he's on auto pilot and he says absolutely nothing. He doesn't even put into effort into the handshake, he just lets her jostle his arm around. The only thing he could bring himself to say when he snapped out of it is that Nico didn't look like Nell. He definitely thought Nico's admiration was misplaced because he's been stewing in guilt over Nell's death for decades now
