Haydon Village Festival!
On Saturday July 2nd, our Next Generation Tour headed to Haydon Village Day, a popular village festival including multiple stages showcasing some of the best music from the local area. Our musicians were lucky enough to be invited to play on the main stage and also a slot on the indoor stage hosted by DNA arts.
GUTS opened the main stage with their collection of exciting covers and a performance of their original song ‘Go Away.’ With this being their first performance of three on Saturday. They began the day with a massive bounce of energy. Interacting with the crowd and Millie also showed off what was probably the greatest hair style to grace the festival. When returning to perform on the indoor stage later in the day after to detouring to another local festival, they once more did not disappoint. Still holding as much energy as earlier in the day, but performed acoustically adding a more intimate and atmospheric feel to the room.
Following GUTS on the main stage was DNA arts apprentice and talented singer songwriter, Niamh Pease. Showcasing a mix of covers and originals, people of all ages were sat basking in the sunshine and toe tapping away to the talented 18 year old from Calne. Niamh had a incredible connection in the audience, although saying that it is daunting trying to figure out what to say in those changeover moments, she had the audience stuck to her and received some fantastic feedback afterwards.
Joe Carreyett once again charmed the audience with his fantastic personality, performing on the main stage and indoor stage with a mix of his originals and some covers. After recently releasing his debut EP, it shines through that Joe really loves to perform. Gathering a large audience, his performance always gives a feel good mood to any audience member. He is a performer that could be watched over and over again.
Joyful singer songwriter, Minna Davies wowed the audiences that came to watch on both stages, her original songs are incredibly easy on the year, yet also makes you want to get up and dance. Although the audience were a little reluctant when hearing she was performing a cover of One Direction's History, Minna transformed it into a totally different song. Her voice is totally original and had the audience in awe when she performed. Also battling technical issues shows she's a committed and experienced performer with real professionalism.
Finally local band Black Wasp joined us on the indoor stage, building a real set up with lead singer Nathan truly using the floor as his own, with the band making sure that everybody could hear and know who they are. Finlay on the drums, Josh on bass and Reuben on Guitar. The band that had only been together a few months showed their dedication. Playing a set nearly entirely of original songs with a strong group bond, the band could be seen headlining the likes of download festival in a few years!
We were also joined by the collective from local group Building Bridges who opened our indoor stage and did a fantastic job!
It’s been incredible to watch these musicians grow and perform to audiences of all sizes in many different locations. We look forward to heading to other locations soon, keep checking back to see where we are next!
