There are two reasons why people don’t talk about things; either it doesn’t mean anything to them, or it means everything.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. - William Butler Yeats, Cloths of Heaven

John Donne: The Canonization
For God’s sake hold your tongue, and let me love, Or chide my palsy, or my gout, My five gray hairs, or ruined fortune flout, With wealth your state, your mind with arts improve, Take you a course, get you a place, Observe his honor, or his grace, Or the king’s real, or his stampèd face Contemplate; what you will, approve, So you will let me love. Alas, alas, who’s injured by my love? What merchant’s ships have my sighs drowned? Who says my tears have overflowed his ground? When did my colds a forward spring remove? When did the heats which my veins fill Add one more to the plaguy bill? Soldiers find wars, and lawyers find out still Litigious men, which quarrels move, Though she and I do love. Call us what you will, we are made such by love; Call her one, me another fly, We’re tapers too, and at our own cost die, And we in us find the eagle and the dove. The phœnix riddle hath more wit By us; we two being one, are it.So, to one neutral thing both sexes fit. We die and rise the same, and prove Mysterious by this love.We can die by it, if not live by love, And if unfit for tombs and hearseOur legend be, it will be fit for verse; And if no piece of chronicle we prove, We’ll build in sonnets pretty rooms; As well a well-wrought urn becomesThe greatest ashes, as half-acre tombs, And by these hymns, all shall approve Us canonized for Love. And thus invoke us: “You, whom reverend love Made one another’s hermitage; You, to whom love was peace, that now is rage; Who did the whole world’s soul contract, and drove Into the glasses of your eyes (So made such mirrors, and such spies,That they did all to you epitomize) Countries, towns, courts: beg from above A pattern of your love!”

When I first got to Nam you were black and I was white. Then sweating together through the boonies and in firefights we became brothers. Everything we did depended on each other. Without speaking we communicated. I knew if I went left, you’d go right and be there to cover me in a firefight. I never trusted another person as I trusted you. That is why I shut the door to my soul when you got hit. A part of me felt the pain, a part of me went with you on the dustoff, and a part of me died with you, and a part of me is still with you just as a part of you is still with me.

This new Frank Turner song is just…almost everything I needed today.
Don’t give into the hatred
Don’t give into the fear
Pour yourself a shot of anger to go with your beer.
Let’s be the sand in the gears for the next four years.
Fuck yes Frank. Fuck yes
Death, that hath suck’d the honey of thy breath, Hath had no power yet upon thy beauty: Thou art not conquer’d.
Romeo (Romeo and Juliet, Act V scene iii)
Margaret Atwood, from “Eating Fire.”
All my undone actions wander naked across the calendar, a band of skinny hunter-gatherers, blown snow scattered here and there, stumbling toward a future folded in the New Year I secure with a pushpin: January’s picture a painting from the 17th century, a still life: Skull and mirror, spilled coin purse and a flower. December 31st by Richard Hoffman
Anyway, George Lucas comes up to me the first day of filming and he takes one look at the dress and says, ‘You can’t wear a bra under that dress.’ So, I say, 'Okay, I’ll bite. Why?’ And he says, 'Because… there’s no underwear in space.’ I promise you this is true, and he says it with such conviction too! Like he had been to space and looked around and he didn’t see any bras or panties or briefs anywhere. Now, George came to my show when it was in Berkeley. He came backstage and explained why you can’t wear your brassiere in other galaxies, and I have a sense you will be going to outer space very soon, so here’s why you cannot wear your brassiere, per George. So, what happens is you go to space and you become weightless. So far so good, right? But then your body expands? But your bra doesn’t- so you get strangled by your own bra. Now I think that this would make a fantastic obituary- So I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.
