“Hello Doctor Hart, I was hoping to borrow a roll of bandages. I won’t need the entire roll, but just to wrap my forearm.” Remi sounded slightly out of breathe. He was covering his right arm, his hair was slightly ruffled and he had a newly formed bruise along his knuckles. He seemed almost embarrassed.

"Hi.. Remi," Orion's voice trailed off as they turned in their office chair to look to the other, frowning in nothing short of concern as they quickly pulled themselves up from the seat to grab the nearby aid-kit and come over to him, "Jesus, you don't look so good— here, come sit, let me see. What happened??"

Remi looks down, hesitating to answer. “Mishap with a drawer. Slammed it on my hand.” He decided. He hoped his embarrassed expression was believable. He was even more hesitant at showing them his arm. Nonetheless, he reluctantly sat down and rolled up his sleeve. The most recent cracks on his arm did in fact resemble scars. But there was still the matter of the silver coloring.

“It’s nothing major, is it?” He silently hoped that he would be fine, attempting to ignore the nervous feeling he had.

"A drawer?? Remi, you have to be careful, now!" Orion scolded, though their tone was lighthearted despite their concern for the other as he was sat down. Orion turned their arm over in their hand to inspect, digging through the kit for the proper supplies to help bandage the other up. Part of them wanted to pry, though.. they knew they wouldn't appreciate someone digging in to their business.

"No, nothing major, just.. be careful, Remi. Stuff like this can be prevented so easy."

The doctor’s tone felt almost parental. It reminded him of another person who had taken a similar tone the first time he had injured his arm. It brought a small smile to Remi’s face, alleviating the anxiety he had previously felt.

“You’re right. I’m sorry Doctor. I’ll be more careful.” He inspected his now bandaged arm, hoping the cracks would heal.

“Thank you, by the way.”

"..Of course," Orion nodded, their initial worry and panic seeming to dwindle a little as they wrapped Remi's arm up to the best of their ability. They gave a heavy sigh of relief, looking up to him with a reassuring smile.

With a pause, however, they gave a soft hum of curiosity after looking them over once more, "..What happened, exactly, can I ask?? That's a pretty rough scar for.. messing with a drawer."

Remi resembled a deer in headlights before quickly resuming his neutral expression. His mind scrambled for an explanation.

“I ….was fishing around my desk and one of the drawers closed on my arm.”

"..Did you slam it?? There's no way it would've just closed that hard. Remi—" Orion sighed, putting their medical supplies back up in the proper places as they sat the medkit back down, "If there's something you're not telling me, you need to spill it."

“Alright.. you got me. I had a bit of a dispute with another employee and got shoved into a cabinet. Got scratched by it a bit too but that’s all.” Technically that was the truth, but he decided leave out the part about the cracks. He still seemed a little embarrassed, only now it was for getting caught in his lie. He could only hope Orion wouldn’t say anything about his fight.

"A dispute??" Their frown deepens, looking up to Remi with a shocked expression as they let out a little huff, "Remi— Why didn't you say anything to me, let alone someone who could've done something? Do you know who it was??.."

“I didn’t want to get in trouble..” Remi mumbled. He looks down at his bandages, unable to meet Orion’s eyes, “It was someone from the Chemical Department. John Paul Lockard, I think his name was,” after a moment of silence Remi continued, “He started it though.”

"Chemical Department? ..Of course it was," Orion sighs under their breath, pulling their chair back towards themselves to sit down as well as they looked back to Remi, "In my opinion, a lot of the people who work over there can be a bit.. confrontational. Nothing against you, of course— Lockard, though.. Don't think I've met him. You should really have gone to someone in HR about it Remi."
