Today’s outfit: faux leather trousers, button up jersey shirt, silver knit pullover
Shiny enough for New Year’s Eve
A week in autumn
Monday: Brown jersey/poplin dress
Tuesday: Maroon corduroy trousers, maroon/cream check flannel shirt; maroon sleeveless cardigan
Wednesday: Maroon/cream gingham dress with ribbon ties. The maroon sleeveless cardigan from Tuesday goes nicely with this and adds a bit of warmth
Thursday: Rust corduroy trousers, beige linen shirt, beige Fairisle sleeveless pullover (I made this)
Friday: Rust corduroy trousers, cream/ginger Fairisle jumper
Saturday: Jeans with a deep turnup. The reverse of the denim is tan rather than the usual pale blue. Same cream/ ginger jumper as Friday
Sunday: Same jersey/poplin dress as Monday, cream/ginger jumper again
I love love love this denim jacket
Hot weather outfits. Yes, I wore the black dress twice
Making a yellow capsule wardrobe from my actual wardrobe
The rail pictures haven’t come out very well because my room is quite dark and gloomy today
There are four dresses: an Aligne butter yellow midi with buttoned bodice that I bought last year and haven’t worn yet (shameful - I will wear it this week); a George half-and-half midi dress, also butter yellow; two tiered cotton dresses in blue and yellow prints ( the floral is two years old and the abstract about five years old). Note: that is not me in those pictures!
Also on the rail are denim culottes, a yellow linen jumper, two very old butter-yellow t shirts (one cotton, one linen), a pair of yellow linen trousers and two vest tops. These are shown in the next pictures. The vest tops are blue and yellow. One has lobsters. The other is a Breton stripe with a yellow band at the neck and armholes. There is also a t shirt with a lemon graphic
Finally, a pair of cheerful havaianas
Capsule wardrobe for orange week (from my actual wardrobe)
To be honest, I was surprised that I had so many orange clothes ( and these are just summer ones)! All these clothes (apart from one dress) are at least a couple of years old. Some of them are a lot older
On the rail:
Bright orange cotton broderie anglaise midi dress (one of the three identical supermarket frocks I bought a couple of years back)
Dark orange/tan tiered cotton maxi (one of my collection of identical tiered cotton maxis)
Thin rust-coloured wide-leg cotton trousers (these are a bit see-through, so need a culotte petticoat under them)
Denim culottes (yes, I know denim isn’t orange, but blue denim is a neutral)
My favourite orange linen knit top with fringes
Teal/orange striped cotton t-shirt
Pale orange tea-dyed cotton t-shirt
Bright orange broderie anglaise cotton t-shirt
Raglan knit rust/orange linen jumper (just in case it gets chilly)
Accessories are: tan leather Converse plimsolls; tan leather Radley “pockets” bag; tan faux-leather rose-trimmed phone purse; three pairs of orange-ish sunglasses (my favourites are the mirrored ones); Perspex bangle set with orange crystals; small silver/carnelian earrings; statement sea-creature earrings by Dawn Estrin
I had hoped that there would be a third dress on the rail. I ordered a fab-looking dress from eBay, but it hasn’t arrived yet. It has tigers
Capsule wardrobe for “pink week”. I don’t have a terrific number of pink items, but I do own three pink dresses (two on the rail and a third floral one that I’m wearing). The three tiered dresses are all exactly the same style (see drawing)—I add to my collection of these with a couple of new colourways every so often
On the rail, from left:
Pale pink lace trimmed vest; Breton stripe T-shirt with a pink neck band; surgical-pink linen t shirt; cream linen wide-leg trousers; dusky pink ribbed jumper I don’t really expect to wear this week; white cotton broderie anglaise dress; plain white cotton tiered dress; plain surgical pink cotton tiered dress; fancy hot pink cotton dress with orange broderie trim.
I have one pair of pink suede converse plimsolls, a couple of pairs of pink sunglasses and a fancy phone purse. Also in the accessories picture are my favourite copper sleepers and pink glass bead necklace
It’s pink week. This is a favourite cotton dress
Kind of wish I’d kept this
Capsule wardrobe for a “leopard” week (from my actual wardrobe).
On the rail are: leopard print vest (meh-this might not be a keeper); tan leopard t shirt with a gold fleck (ancient and really comfortable); black t shirt with black rhinestones (not typical summer wear, but we’ll see); leopard print palazzo culottes (heavy crepe jersey - these are a likely all-year item); black broderie anglaise barrel-leg trousers (two years old, but barrel legs haven’t gone out of style yet); black linen culottes (really old); leopard print shirt-bodice dress (a bit shorter than I like, so I have added a wide band of black broderie anglaise trim at the hem); black broderie anglaise dress with wrap bodice (supermarket find three years ago - I wisely bought it in all three of the colours it came in).
One of my absolute favourite dresses just now. Cotton jersey top, poplin skirt and sleeves with broderie edges.
I wore it to an art exhibition “Everything Is Going To Be Alright” by Martin Creed
Never mind.
The sunglasses dilemma. I chose the dark blue frames, but in the end, it rained and I didn’t need any sunglasses at all
First outing of the year in a cotton frock. I love a bit of broderie anglaise. That’s not me in the photo. Didn’t have time to draw my outfit today
